San Tommaso - 2 — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I am a solo traveler and wanted to have dinner at an Italian restaurant like I did the day before. This was the closest Italian restaurant to me and it looked chic so I wanted to give it a try. I was back from a canal tour and needed to go to the restroom too. It usually takes me around five minutes to decide on what to order so I wanted to use the restroom first and went downstairs for it. When I entered the waiter suddenly opened the door(I realized he had followed me there) and he asked me in a rude tone, “Who are you?” I told him I’m a customer, and then he said I needed to order first. I said okay and explained that I just wanted to use the restroom before ordering. He then took me upstairs. I confronted him about how he made me feel bad and uncomfortable. He told me I was alone, then showed me the door and said I could leave. I left the restaurant. I’ve been to several restaurants, but this was the worst treatment I’ve ever experienced. If he had told me that it’s the restaurant’s policy to order first, I would’ve respected it, apologized, and placed an order. But instead, he humiliated me in front of everyone as if I was some kind of thief. I was wearing a cotton button-up shirt and fabric pants, holding an iPhone 15 Pro, with an Apple Watch and jewelry on my wrist, so I didn’t look like someone who couldn’t afford dinner there. He was just rude throughout the whole process. I would never expect such an attitude from a waiter at a chic...

Story time!!!

One day I came to this place to have a glass of Heineken as I saw gentlemen sitting outside and their drink looked pretty good.. my order of glass of “Heineken” came, but it was in the wrong glass and with no bubbles… I work at the bar and I know what a beer of Heineken looks like keep in mind, anyways I take a sip and it’s disgusting.. I go in and tell the waiter to pour me another glass.. He comes out with a new glass and now it’s broken on the side and still no bubble.. I get annoyed and bring it back into them complaining that that this isn’t Heineken and the glass is broke.. he tells me I will bring you another but I chose to stand there and wait for it so I could see them pour it… What happened is he took the glass and is walking to the back of the restaurant .. I decide to follow He walked into the back of another restaurant next door and I saw with my own eyes how they were using A HUGE JUG OF STALE BEER poured into the glasses I ordered… I was in shock and disgusted when he came to Han’s me the glass I told him I saw what he did.. he offered refund which I took and also said hope this won’t happen again a and I replied there won’t be a next time because I’m not coming back here. Angelo was the laziest, rudest, nasty waiter imaginable. Completely disinterested does not start to describe this man who wasso poorly attired thathis shirt was untucked, and he remained unresponsive to requests for attention.

Meals were delivered so far apart that two people had finished starters and mains before the last main was delivered for the 3rd person, with no starter.

Drinks were not brought to the table, despite two requests. With an aggressive dismissal of a request for the drinks to be delivered, they were eventually brought to the table after meals had been cleared.

Multiple tables were recipients of the same degree of incompetence and disregard at the same time. And there were only 5 tables being served, so not busy.

The steak was fine but the experience was horrendous, and for the premium price of €178 for 3, outrageous. Do...
