Strand Zuid is a textbook case of style over substance. Yes, it looks nice. The setting by the water is undeniably beautiful. But that’s where the positives stop. From the moment you sit down, it becomes clear that service is a complete mess. You have to wave, shout, and hope someone notices you. Staff regularly forget what you ordered, or they bring things you never asked for.
It feels like nobody knows what they’re doing. Some items on the menu seem to surprise the staff when you mention them. There is no consistency, no clear communication, and no sense of basic hospitality. Food arrives slowly, if at all. When it does show up, it is dry, bland, and absurdly overpriced. Portions are small, and the presentation often looks rushed or careless.
Management is nowhere to be seen, and staff appear completely overwhelmed and undertrained. If you try to ask for help or fix an error, you are more likely to be ignored than assisted.
What should be one of Amsterdam’s top spots is ruined by poor leadership and a team that is clearly not prepared to run a professional venue. It is frustrating, chaotic, and disappointing. There are so many better places to spend your time and money. This one is...
Read moreStrandzuid, located near Amsterdam RAI and overlooking a serene lake and park, offers a peaceful retreat from the city. The restaurant provides a tranquil setting to enjoy delicious food, although it comes at a higher price point.
The food at Strand Zuid is of excellent quality and the portions are generous. The burger and fries, priced at 19 EUR, were particularly satisfying (includes fries). While the menu leans towards the expensive side, the culinary experience justifies the cost.
The staff, while generally helpful, can be a bit forgetful. They often provide only one napkin per person and occasionally forget to provide cutlery. However, they are willing to accommodate requests and assist as needed.
Strand Zuid also features a sunbed area with a shower, perfect for those seeking relaxation and sunshine. Although I didn't personally use these facilities, they add a luxurious touch to the overall experience.
The restaurant's serene ambiance, facing the lake and park, creates an inviting atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for a leisurely meal or a peaceful break from the city's...

Lovely place to have a drink or a snack, but dinner was not really good. We had the curry soup with shrimp (shrimp was rubbery and tasted fishy) and the vegetarian curry dish with plenty of different vegetables, but unfortunately very bland tasting. The veggies had a good bite to it (not soggy), however... no flavor. Normally curry dishes have several layers of flavor which can be enhanced with some salt and/or pepper, but these dishes were beyond saving. We didn't even finish half of it, although we just came from the gym and had build up quite an appetite. I think the snacks, deep fried foods and burgers are okay, as people seem to enjoy them, but the Asian dishes were not that yummy unfortunately. We didn't inform the staff on side, because the waiter didn't asked why our plates were both still quite full when picking them up. So either it was a normal thing to occur or he just didn't care. Too bad the food was not good. The restaurant has a nice relaxing vibe, but if I go to a restaurant, I also expect...
