My husband and I went to Testamatta to celebrate my birthday, and it was one of those places where you walk in and feel instantly at home. For an upscale casual spot, the vibe is super relaxed and friendly; it wasn’t pretentious at all, but the food was just the best part. Truly well done. You can tell they put a lot of love and skill into every dish.

Chef Roberto takes classic Italian dishes and elevates them without overdoing it. We opted for the four-course Chef Recommendation menu to be surprised, and honestly, each course was a highlight in its own right. The scallop was incredibly fresh, and the meat was cooked to perfection. The seasonal vegetables added a nice touch of crunch and lightness (who knew leek and lettuce could taste like that!). The flavors were so well balanced. When you combine all the elements on your plate and eat them together, you'll realize that each ingredient, along with how it's cooked and seasoned, was made to complement one another.

The plating was beautiful, but not fussy. The portions are just right—enough to satisfy and fill us, but not too heavy. This is the restaurant where you want to take your time, savor your wine (Francesco, the co-owner and sommelier, paired the perfect wine for every course—we felt like we were in good hands), chat, and relax with your dining companion! You won’t feel rushed at all!

It's one of those special spots in Amsterdam that makes you want to come back, simply because of the great food, great vibe, and how genuinely kind and attentive everyone is. Thanks so much for the fantastic experience!

P.S.: They also added a little candle to my delicious tiramisu at the end—such a sweet, personal touch, especially since we had just mentioned in passing that we were there to celebrate...

If there is a place where tradition meets excellence, where every dish tells a story of passion and mastery, it is undoubtedly Testamatta Restaurant! My recent dinner at this little temple of gastronomy was a sensory journey worth recounting. My evening begins with a Beef Tartare , impeccably fresh meat, hand-cut, perfectly seasoned, and luxuriously tender. Alongside it, a Bone Marrow Bruschetta , that is nothing short of exceptional—crisp, charred bread topped with rich, buttery marrow that melts into an umami explosion. A bold and decadent opening act. The Linguine with Lobster is a masterclass in technique and balance. The pasta, cooked to perfect al dente, is enveloped in a sauce that highlights the lobster’s natural sweetness without overpowering it. The shellfish itself is tender and succulent, while a touch of chili and fresh basil chiffonade adds brightness. A dish where simplicity, executed flawlessly, becomes sublime. Head Chef Roberto and the Sous-Chef Lorenzo knows wellhow to cook with Love and Passion. The wine tasting is guided by Francesco , a sommelier whose expertise shines in every glass. Sublime Prosecco and Unique Orange wine ,Top advise. His ability to tailor selections to the diner’s palate turns the meal into a personalized experience. Testamatta Restaurant is not just a place to eat well—it’s where cooking becomes art. From the first bite to the last, the quality of ingredients, flawless execution, service ,and thoughtful creativity make the meals unforgettable Thank you...

Testamatta has a new chef, Roberto, ex Domenica, who he brings the restaurant to a new level of great Italian cooking. He forms a brilliant team with Francesco, our beloved host and sommelier.

We started with a glass of Franciacorta, come antipasto a salad of green asparagus, fried leaves of cime di rape, almond milk, and almonds. An unexpected, elegant, and hard to describe dish. The spaghetti fatto a casa, aglio, olio, peperoncini with a tartare of langoustine was spot on. Such a good dish! Corvina with a raw fennel blood orange salad and young artichokes. An oven roasted melanzane with scamorza affumicata, a fonduta of a Sardininan cheese and herbs....what a fantastic dish. The Etna Rossa was a great pairing. I love the informal, real Italian and a bit chaotic atmosphere. This is what an Italian trattoria/enoteca should be... heart-warming, and authentic in the true sense of the word. We...

Went here on a Friday night. Place looked charming from the outside. It was very busy but we expected this. We had the chicken salad for starter (not pictured) and it was delicious. The mains were pasta with ricotta and anchovies and ragu pasta. Both were delightful. Portions were a bit small though. The service lacked attention. It was stressful to even look at how chaotic the server was. We did not mind waiting but they kept forgetting what we asked for (plates, bill, etc) The ambience could be better. The lighting could have been dimmer because this would tone down the volume of the guests’ voices. When places are made a bit dim, guests tend to pay closer attention to their tone. Attention to detail could use some work.
