Peperwortel — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Disappointed that this neighbourhood place has taken such a down turn.

Went for lunch: only half of my food arrived. I had to find the staff and ask about it (because they gave no explanation and didn't return). Was told: the chef must not have any left but normally they'd normally send something else, I'll check. 10 mins later I was given hummus and chilli sauce from a bottle as a substitute. No ask, no checking. I was still charged full price and the attitude was very much 'food is food, who cares if it's not what you ordered'. Dining partner had falafel salad pita (tuna not available) and found it dry...

We ate there on what seemed to be a busy night for the kitchen, which was totally occupied making pittas for takeout. So we waited a while for food. They could bring us bread while we waited, luckily, but the atmosphere was a bit stressed. I felt sorry for the server - absolutely not her fault! The food when it came was quite nice and veggie rich, but for dinner it was a bit insubstantial. I wonder if this is really a lunch place, as I can see it working more for a lighter meal. So I don't not recommend it exactly - more just think it's not somewhere I'd go...

WOW! We used peperwortel catering services for a 5 day film production. The food was healthy AND delicious, always delivered on time and served hot. Great mix of hot/cold food for lunch and generous portions and lots of snacks. 12 hour days = hungry cast and crew - and even with a big crew, we had plenty to eat everyday! Also they were environmentally conscious - mostly reusable containers - picked up following day, cutlery/plates made from paper and very little plastic used (if any)....
