The Happiness Cafe — Restaurant in Eindhoven

I really do not know why this place has such high reviews. I have been here around 2 times, and each time I haven't had the best experience.

The first time I came for brunch, dine in. Ordered an iced latte with an extra shot of espresso and a toast, while my friend ordered a chai latte and a banana bread. The coffee was mediocre at best and a little burnt for my taste. At least the toast was decent but at the end of the day how can you mess up toast? The order of the chai latte got messed up and my friend got something else instead of what she ordered. The banana bread was really bad.

The second time we came for a quick coffee. I ordered a capuccino and my friend decided to give the chai latte another shot. We had to call the waiter to get our order. Then we waited 30+ min, and had to notify a waiter to inquire about our drinks. Turns out that they had forgotten to bring our order and they brought us the drinks cold, and without any sugar options or spoons. In case you were wondering, the coffee was the same, but the chai latte was definetely better!

While waiting I noticed that they cleaned some of their boards outside in the pavement and with just a cloth, which to me sounds unsanitary as they are made of wood and wood can harbour bacteria.

Overall for the price they ask and the hype they get, definetely not worth it at all. The only good thing I like about this place are the cups and some of the decoration.

I found this place before arriving to Eindhoven where I would be staying for 1.5h as a layover. Many people who were seated after us ordered while we just sat there waiting for over 30min. Then we watched multiple people who were seated after we placed our order eat, pay and leave before we even got our food. Different waiters passed through us but none of them gave us any info about the delay. Eventually, we asked what was happening and why were other people being served before us. This waiter dismissed it saying that she didn't think that it was the case (but it was). Afterwards, another waiter came, apologized for the delay, explained that the egg and avocado toast was a dish that took longer to be served and offered pastries as a compensation. I thank this latter waiter for the professionalism and that is why I am giving 2 stars for the service and not one. Finally, I would just like to give constructive feedback: if there is a dish that takes longer, it is important to give a short notice to clients about that.
