Bumbu Jawa — Restaurant in The Hague

I had a bad experience at this restaurant. So, I asked a male waiter in Bahasa Indonesia about a few menu items as He also Indonesian, I inquired about the difference between two dishes I wasn't familiar with. The waiter explained that menu 1 was sweeter while menu 2 was spicy. I clearly chose the spicy option. However, shortly, a female server brought me menu 1 (the sweet one). I explained that I ordered the spicy dish (menu 2) not the menu 1, as I'm not a fan of sweet food. The server took the dish back to the kitchen, but when she returned with the correct order, she placed it on the table rudely, almost as if she was throwing the plate down on the table, there was no smile or any kind of greeting.

At first I was sorry the former chinese restaurant had gone. But this Indonesian restaurant is a great new find that truely deserves it's place in the city centre. I like to tell you why: First of all this is Indonesian cooking like it's supposed to be done. I say cooking- not "cuisine" because it's not fancy. But is it good? Yes it's good! The dishes are made very authentic. When you visit you see almost all Indonesian people here. They have done a good job with the interior. It feels good also thanks to the staff. Seems like young people but it also seems they know their business. The girl behind the counter is friendly and correct but not formal. Service comes fast and when I ask advice to complete my bami goreng sate ayam she advises the buncis. Good food true to the source, what could...

We dined in and even though the place was not full or busy when we arrived it took quite a long time to get a menu and for the food to be read. We had to wait at least an extra 30mins between our appetizers and the other dishes and even then the noodles that were suppose to be an accompaniment for the dishes was so late that we were done eating by then. 2.5 hours for a small dinner for 2 is unacceptable and our dessert was never delivered.
