DO NOT come to this restaurant unless one of your party are fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin. We were going to a movie next door and in need of an early dinner. This was the only place open at the time. There is no front of house service whatsoever. We stood there for several minutes before someone came to attend to us. A group of female staff were seated virtually at the front door doing meal prep. Not one of them attempted to greet or help us. They yelled something out and a person with limited English came and seated us. There was no-one else there at the time. We were sat right beside the kitchen and had to put up with kitchen noise and constant bell dinging which must have been for takeout orders. We were under a big screen TV which they proceeded to turn on. We were subjected to revolving ads in another language. The menu is extensive and not easy to decipher with limited English descriptions. No-one seemed willing to explain the menu to us. We took a punt and ended up with two very large portions. They were okay but we wouldn't rave about them. There is no ambience in this restaurant, we felt like we were sitting in the kitchen. It was untidy, with stock on tables and the women working at the front door. The tables are very large and there is no option for two people to sit at a smaller table. Paying for the bill was very utilitarian. With no asking us if we enjoyed our meal. We were polite and thanked them. The food is probably good if you know what you are ordering. But the lack of service and attitude means we will NEVER go back. An experience...
Read moreShould have taken the advise of other reviews in regards to getting meat you didn't order. Placed an order online for combination BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork on rice. Go to pick up the order and notice duck/chicken inside with the smallest amount of BBQ pork so I go back to Golden Jade to advise. The clerk at the desk seems like he didn't want to swap this out, after hesitating he took it back to the kitchen and returned with the same dish with a little bit more pork. I then told him I didn't order duck or chicken I want pork. He takes it back again to return with the same result a little bit more pork with duck and chicken still remaining. I ended up leaving at around the duck and binned the rest. Don't waste your time and money with this place. Also note there is no suitable parking here as it is located on a main road. Would appreciate a partial refund of my online order seeing as two thirds of the meal was binned due to your staff not being able to fulfill an order made online with instructions. I know you can partially refund some of this to the card used to pay as your website uses Braintree by PayPal for securing the online order. I would also consider a rename to the Bronze Jade Restaurant aa Golden wasn't the experience or...
Read moreI did not want to write this review. My impressions of this restaurant were great before my most recent experience as of the time of writing. Perhaps there was a change of management; perhaps our food was prepared by a different chef today. Either way, the sweet and sour lamb ribs were undercooked, the fried squid was rubbery, the tofu was bland, and the Peking duck was missing green onions (we had not been informed that they were out of stock). Speaking of being out of stock, half the dishes we wanted to order were unavailable — it was 8pm on Chinese New Year! I am also disappointed to say that the service was mediocre at best. We were moved from the table that we had reserved to a smaller, dirtier table in the corner situated under a flickering light. When asked about the light, the waitress insisted that there was nothing they could do about it and tried to brush over the matter by asking us what we wanted to order. Convincing them to move us to another table was a truly tiresome process. I cannot speak for the quality of yumcha at this restaurant, but please be warned that having dinner at this place is a sure-fire way to have your...
