Teppanyaki has always been one of those must try culinary experiences. The chef stands behind a counter made of very hot metal plate, and he prepares the food right in front of you with amazing speed and precision. WIth the sound, smell and fire amplifying all your senses.
Bowz has been my favourite teppanyaki for years, unlike the big franchises with lots of teppan stations they only have one teppan station in the centre of the restaurant, pretty much like a setting you would see in a bar but just replacing large section of the bar table with piping hot metal plate and their food I have to say is much better compared to other teppan restaurants. The main reason that makes Bowz my favourite teppanyaki is because of the taste of their food and how focus the chef is over the entire preparation process. Not just putting up a show to amuse the guests.
Over the years, they have improved on their presentation. It used to be about the taste of the food and the culinary show, but I was pleasantly surprised that all of their food now looks good as well as tasting good.
One small tweak would make teppanyaki experience even more enjoyable is a stronger air extraction system. The smell of grease is almost overwhelming, it would be much nicer to step into a restaurant with...

Read moreI am a sushi chef. I have not written a negative review to a restaurant before, however, according to the very bad experience I had at Bowz, I would like to share this with the public.
Food: The sashimi selection is not fresh; all the fish must have been stocked for over 3 days.
The Kina was the least fresh thing I ever had in all of NZ; it already smells bad. If it's not fresh, why serve it to the guests?
All the other fishes were poorly prepared. The chef didn't even know how to properly slice the fish. I give the skill zero star.
The yellowfin tuna and crayfish were frozen, and the crayfish must be under 500g, but it costs 135 dollars? (In NZ, would you like to spend $250 for 1kg of frozen crayfish?)
The hygiene conditions are definitely not good; I did not see any professional dishwasher in their kitchen.
The front-of-house service is very poor.
If you are looking for a comfortable dining environment at the same price point, you will have so many...
