Banh Mi EM — Restaurant in Christchurch

Its not the most traditional Banh Mi, which is something the region needs more of v.s. some kind of Kiwi Fusion/less flavor, especially when the key ingredients are available. It was a decent sandwich, this is not a comment on that, its about authentic and key flavors that are missing. The pork cubes definitely just make it taste more basic v.s. the traditional flavor rich grilled pork, and cucumbers are a must, we have those here. The bread used is correct, and that is also key, vs most of the basic boring white bread you find here. Also, it can use more coriander. The sandwich has potential, but I would say Hanoi Alley is the closest to traditional in town, and overall better taste because of the correct preparation being used sans the spice factor.
