"Discover the Best Malaysian Food in Christchurch at Makan Café: A Cozy Lunch Spot with Friendly Staff"

I recently had lunch at Makan Cafe on Manchester Street in Christchurch, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. This place is a little gem if you're into Malaysian food.

I went with some colleagues, and they tried the Roti Canai. It was spot on—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the curry it came with was full of flavour. As for me, I had the curry with rice. The meat was super tender, and the curry was rich and tasty. It was just the kind of meal that hits the spot.

The two guys behind the counter were really friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. They clearly love what they do, and it shows.

The vibe at Makan Cafe is really chill and cozy. It's not just a great place for lunch; it's also perfect if you just want to hang out with a cup of tea or coffee. I noticed other people there reading books or working on their laptops, which says a lot about how comfortable the place is.

Overall, if you're in Christchurch and craving some good Malaysian food, Makan Café is definitely worth a visit. I'll be...

Makan Cafe is a cozy spot that truly deserves more love! One of those places that feels like a hidden gem! It’s my all-time favourite stop whenever I’m in Christchurch: warm, welcoming, and packed with flavour.

The owner has over 10 years of experience in the food and beverage world, and you can really taste that passion and skill in every dish, especially the nasi lemak, laksa, homemade Kaya, and those amazing beverage! Do check out for their special menu:)

What makes Makan Cafe even more special is their passion for blending Kiwi and Malaysian flavours in a way that feels both creative and comforting. It’s such a thoughtful fusion that celebrates both cultures without losing the soul of either.

What I love most is how genuine everything feels, no frills, just good food made with heart by good people. The team puts so much care into what they do, and they make you feel like part of the family every time you walk in. If you’re in Christchurch, do yourself a favour and drop by. It’s a small local business that really deserves more support, and once you try it, you’ll definitely want to keep...

前台帅哥会说流利的中文点餐无压力!东西超好吃的姐妹们快冲!I recently visited this fantastic Asian fusion restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The menu offers a great variety of dishes, blending flavors from different cuisines in the most delicious way.

The Rendang Beef was a standout—tender, rich, and packed with aromatic spices. Another must-try is the Bang Bang Sauce Fried Chicken—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a perfectly balanced sweet-spicy sauce. Absolutely addictive!

Their drink selection is also impressive, especially the matcha-based beverages—creamy, flavorful, and so refreshing. Whether you're here for food or drinks, there's something for everyone.

Beyond the amazing food, the service was exceptional. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable meal with great atmosphere, delicious food, and outstanding service. Can't wait...

Such a beautiful café near the Heart of the City!! This Malaysian café is absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely be coming back. The staff are so so lovely and my sister and I had a great conversation with them about Malaysia (we used to live in Brunei but visited often). We ordered the ice chocolate with ice cream, the freshly squeezed orange juice, and the homemade lolly cake which I all recommend highly!! Prices are very reasonable, and I can't wait to come back around lunch time some day to try their peanut satay and fried chicken. The vibe of the café is nice and gentle, the perfect thing for my busy Friday morning. Thank you so much, we'll be back soon!! :)))
