Lemon Tree is a hidden gem that every coffeeholic should try. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, and it's no surprise that this charming spot is a favourite among locals. It has been around for more than a decade!
Upon entering, the cafe's unique character is immediately evident. Housed in what appears to be a former residential property, Lemon Tree offers a cosy, homely vibe that invites you to linger. The eclectic mix of vintage furniture and decorations, including a delightful vinyl record player and the Delft Blue collection, adds to the cafe's character and warmth.
The coffee, crafted from beans by Underground Coffee Roasters, is nothing short of exceptional. I ordered a small latte, which was expertly prepared by a lovely barista lady with dreadlocks. Her skillful touch resulted in a latte that was stronger than the usual fare, yet perfectly balanced for those who appreciate a robust flavour, especially on a chilly morning here in CHCH.
Service at Lemon Tree is superb. The barista lady not only just made my coffee but took my order with a smile. She's also engaged me in a pleasant conversation (that I learnt the cafe has been around more than a decade), adding a personal touch to the experience that is often missing in some larger establishments.
Whether you're on the go or settling in to soak up the atmosphere, Lemon Tree offers a delightful experience which makes it a must-visit for anyone in Christchurch. Five stars,...
Read moreWent for the first time 2 weeks ago and haven't stopped raving about it whenever the opportunity presents. Friendly attentive staff but the food, the food was amazing! It was the best brunch I have can ever remember having and I'm now hooked.
The day I arrived was a Saturday 11am. Quite busy but got a lovely table to the right of the door walking in. Sun streaming in and surrounded by delph dinnerware, cups and and array of cottagey flowers in baskets and missed match tables and chairs of bye-gone days. So quaint and just bursting with character. You felt special just being there.
I ordered the french toast, with caramelized (?) banana with rashers of bacon and fresh berries and pomegranate seeds scattered around the rim of the plate with a dusting of icing sugar. It looked amazing and tasted incredible. I'm so hooked on this place and Ive try so many cafes in CHCH but, this one well; this one is really something special. I'm totally sold. Take a look at their website. It shows the dish I had and it actually came out looking exactly like that but tasted simply amazing. Its personal taste I know and what one loves another might think yup so so. But I'm sold for sure and I think its worth a try to see...
Read moreI came to have brunch with my family. We ordered berry pancakes, which didn't have berries. The menu states that it'll come with ice cream, a waffle cone, strawberries and banana. However it only came with orange, kiwifruit and a bit of cream on top. We asked the waitress about those ingredients that the pancakes were missing and he said that they didn't have any of those ingredients, that's why it came like that (there were bananas on the bench, and the waitress wasn't sure why the chef didn't put it in the dish). I ordered a vegetarian hash, which it came without chickpeas and house relish (mentioned on the menu). The veggies were cooked with some spicy chili and that's it. The vegetarian hash wasn't what it used to be at all. I understand that you can ran out of ingredients, but at least I would have preferred/expected to be told that they didn't have the ingredients before taking my order. I have come to this place more than 5 times, and I have recommended it to a lots of friends. It's a pity. I used to love this place, I will...
