Hello, I would like to ask about something that happened today. I was standing in line to order food. There was one person in front of me and a few people behind me. There were only two empty tables available, and I considered placing my belongings on one of them to reserve it but decided to wait my turn as I thought it might be impolite.

However, the barista told the people behind me that there were only a few seats left and that they should reserve them. When I finished ordering, I turned around and saw that there were no seats available. I asked if there was any seating upstairs, but the barista said no.

While I was waiting outside in the rain for a table to become available, I noticed that the staff seated the people who were behind me in line at the next available tables. When the fourth table became available, I went back inside to sit, but the staff seated other customers who had arrived much later than I did.

I felt ignored and overlooked despite waiting my turn, which left me feeling confused and upset. This feeling was heightened by the fact that I was the only Asian woman, while the front staff and the people behind me in line were all white. There were still no seats available for me, so I eventually asked if I could cancel my order, but they said it was not possible because they already started cooking. I couldn’t stand and eat, so I thought have to take my order away.

I ordered my food to have here, but I would like to understand why this happened. I wonder did I miss or do something...

I’ve tried many cafes and breakfasts around the world. In some places a smashed avocado toast is literally that: a toast with just some avocado on in. In here I can only say it was way beyond that, definitely one of the best ones I had in a long time. First of all the quality of the bread which was excellent, then the generous portion of fresh avocado mixed with tasteful cherry tomatoes and feta. Super delicious! The staff is also very friendly, I arrived just before closing time in the afternoon and didn’t expect that they would still happily prepare this item from the breakfast menu for me, but it was no issue at all. 100% the best coffee and food in Christchurch. I have travelled from AU for work and this is close to the Office I am working with and Hotel I am staying. Breakfast and Lunch everyday has been full of flavour and fresh. Service with a smile. Great outdoor sitting as well for nice days in the suns. Dog Friendly.
