Bites and Beans — Restaurant in Christchurch

My wife and I were passing through this area in Christchurch and were looking for a place to grab some lunch. We noticed this place had great reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. These 5-star reviews were well warranted. Excellent food, excellent service. We both ordered the crispy chicken burgers since they looked so good, and I would definitely order them again!

I think we were possibly speaking with the owner, but either way he was very friendly and helpful (even giving us suggestions of places to visit on our way north in NZ). I'm glad we spoke with him since we got chatting and he told us they make their sauces, seasonings, etc. custom in-house. Their custom garlic sauce on the chicken burger was so good (he let us sample it first), and we enjoyed the (home made) seasoned salt on the fries (IMO always better than regular salt on fries). I also grabbed a little cheesecake for the road and it was delicious!

If we pass through Christchurch again on our travels I would definitely eat here again! If you're local or visiting, do yourself a favor and give this...

I ordered off ubereats and it cost approximately $75. I got 2x burger combos, shawarma meal, cheese bread and caramel slice. The burger combos were great but it tasted like it had pickled veges in it instead of lettuce or cabbage. The shawarma was average. It felt like they added 1 chip in the middle of the shawarma to kinda "bulk" it out. Kinda burnt it a bit, and the coleslaw seemed like it was packaged coleslaw, not homemade. Cheese bread literally pita bread with melted cheese. The caramel slice. Was disappointed. It felt like it had been warmed before it was delivered because I picked it up and it was quite soft. Went to bite into it and it crumbled. It tasted stale and it felt like it had been microwaved to bring abit of "life" back to it. I wouldn't rush to go back...

The staff were incredibly friendly. The sofa seating was available, making it a very comfortable experience. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the salad had an absolutely perfect dressing, and the combination of meat, rice, and tzatziki sauce was unbeatable. The chips were crispy with just the right amount of salt. Every bite was a delight!
