Pepe's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Christchurch

I ordered the beef nachos last night. I’ve ordered it twice before, first time it was hot, lots of beef for protein. Second time I literally got zero beef with my nachos just a ridiculous amount of beans, I wanted to give it a retry and see if there was a improvement because I do like my nachos but it was just disappointing, third time (last night) I literally probably only had about two tablespoons of beef for protein.. I didn’t see any protein at first glance but I thought “oh it’s probably just underneath the guacamole, NOPE. I was wrong the most pitiful and sad amount of protein ever. Overall I did like Pepe Mexican grill the first time but the last two times have just been a waste of money and a waste of time. I think it’s time to find a different Mexican...

I’m usually a big fan of this place, it’s always been great. However my last experience tonight has got much left to be desired. The good: the 15something year old was polite and nice. The bad: omg where do I start. The kid begind the counter was polite and that’s it, clearly a trainee left to her own devices, was very awkward and clearly didn’t have much idea of what to do a vegan perhaps? The rice boxes we got made us think that the country was on food rations as my god they were scarce! A big bed of rice and then little (and I mean very little) of everything else. I really appreciate the kindness and friendliness of the staff that work at Pepes, but the food doesn't match the service unfortunately... I ordered the vegetarian nachos a couple of times recently hoping that it will be different with a different staff or location but it's just too messy to eat.. and you barely get beans as the main protein substitute but instead a whole lot of queso sauce and its just too sloppy and not appetizing.... to be honest it makes me nauseous.. I think if they can be more strategic with where they place the sauces and guac etc and the beans it wouldn't be just one massive messy pile... for $15.90 it was a massive rip off and...
