Sam's Mediterranean Eatery — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

Came here a long time ago with my partner and had the cajun chicken burger, which was absolutely delicious. We had been meaning to come back for a long time but got caught up in our busy lives. Today Auckland is still in alert level 3 lockdown and we didn't feel like cooking so returned thinking fondly of the burger we had many moons ago and to our surprise we were absolutely blown away with the food and service!! Our order was taken and we were given our food within 15minutes, we had the moussaka and the chicken and mushroom pasta, which came with a lovely greek salad. Everything tasted exquisite! We were even gifted with a free tiramisu, which we gobbled very quickly. We are left feeling very full and very satisfied. A first for my friends and I. A good first impression - good service and my meal was fine but it tasted a bit bland after the first few bites. The sauces kind of helped but the dish was still average and lacked the punch that I was expecting. Maybe less beans and more falafel and hummus would have improved it flavour-wise. Possibly a bit too much for one person as I had no room for dessert so next time I'll order with my brain rather than my stomach. I was disappointed that there was no lamb on the menu as that what I was expecting to see on the menu. Minced meat isn't that impressive. It had been years since I'd had Turkish apple tea and it was quite nostalgic. Location is decent and it's also possible to takeaway. Not a whole lot of seating indoors but there is some seating outdoors. Hope to pop in again soon - it's pretty good venturing out...

Oh I can't explain in just words how happy this place made me. Food is an emotion for me and last night I was on cloud 9. The atmosphere and service was lovely. We tried the popular item Mediterranean chicken. If compared to a person this item was like a soft spoken person. Though I am an Indian, I found this item like home and comfort food. Then for the first time I tried Sarma (Stuffed Vine Leaf). The leaf is magical. This item seemed very refreshing. As sides they served us with fresh and crunchy salad and 2 yummy sauces.
