Big Tree Cafe — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

Hands down one of the best breakfasts I have had. Got the bacon Eggs Benny as I tend to. This time, with a side of fried chicken tenders, we had a Firsttable booking, so why not.

I had my doubts as this place does seem like a typical bakery/cafe at a glance. This all changed instantly as the plates arrived. The plating was exceptional, something I would have expected at a Michelin breakfast location.

Thats not all though, this wasn't just a well dressed eggs Benedict, no, no. This was something new, and I loved it! Every ingredient came together like clockwork. The fried chicken as well, juicy, crispy and fresh.

Please sir, can I have some more?

One note, a clean space, boxes piled up in the corner is a draw back, the use of bakery sized chiller cabinets gives off a 'bakery' feel. If you could take what you have done with the chalk menu board across the entire space, and put signage outside, I recon this place would be...

Absolutely faultless, from the coffees to the food. Everything we had was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked.

The quality and freshness of ingredients was evident in the food. Staff were so friendly and attentive. The infused complimentary water a nice touch.

Even the cabinet food was good. Best savory scone I’ve had.

For the past few weeks, my workmates and I have been visiting this cafe. The service and food have been consistent and excellent.

So far, we've had the salads, the lasagne, the filo, chicken burger, scones, chips, wedges, kumara and much more. The food is always fresh and delicious. The coffees are good. The customer service is out of this world.

We've eaten at a few places in this area and this cafe has hands down been the best. We always leave full and happy....
