BP at the Crossing -- particularly Opie, an amazing and selfless employee -- helped me more than they will ever know.
I am not a particularly handy person when it comes to car repair. Sadly, I never had parents who taught me this sort of thing. And I never learned them along the way.
Recently, I had two (fairly new) tires break down after going over a pothole. I live 1.5 hours away from the BP at the Crossing. I had a good spare, which a kind person helped me to install to replace the destroyed tyre. I filled up the leaking tyre and drove 15 minutes to BP at the Crossing to see if it was holding enough air to get me home. It wasn't. I was in a really bad place. And it was a bit before 8PM, so no tire shops were open to help me.
I chatted with Opie, who happened to be working there that evening. I was expecting the typical "sorry mate, good luck" response. But Opie is an amazing and selfless person. He took a look and told me that he thought the tire could be repaired to the extent that I could get back home that evening. But the BP didn't have any repair kits in stock at the moment.
Opie suggested I walk across the street to the Warehouse, buy a repair kit (he showed me a picture on his phone of what I needed to get), and then come back and see him.
When I returned from the Warehouse, he helped me take my leaking tire off, and then he personally used the kit to fix my tyre. I was able to get home and get a good night sleep in my own bed. I had a job interview the next day and was able to do well thanks to Opie.
This goes above and beyond what anyone could possibly expect from someone behind the counter at a petrol station. Opie is 20 years old (I am 42). So many people his age would just go back to playing on their phones. But this young man is a hero. He goes out of his way to help people in need. I am deeply indebted to him.
Opie -- if you read this: THANK YOU. I am sorry I wasn't able to come back and say thanks once more after I drove around for 10 minutes to test the pressure. I had to get back for the interview the next day. But you were a HUGE blessing in a time of great need.
Whenever I am in or near Tauranga, I will be driving out of my way to get to this petrol station.
For whatever it is worth, I know there are good people of all faiths dedicated to helping others. I am a Christian. Opie is a Sheik. It was deeply and profoundly clear to me that Opie's faith was a motivating factor for him being such a selfless person. He was really there for me when I desperately needed assistance.
God bless Opie and BP at...
Read moreWent to get petrol - only wanted $40 Pressed $40 on the pump which wasn’t activating so left the cap open and went inside to pre pay Asked the cashier for “$40 on pump 12 91 please” To which he replied “you can’t pay until he’s finished filling” I replied “that’s weird” and waited
The BP worker then came in and said “iv filled pump 12” the cashier replied “it was pump 11 you had to help the lady with” oh well iv filled pump 12 “who’s pump 12” to which I raised my hand “Whoops I filled your car it’s $100 Bucks or something sorry miss”
The rudeness I got and I didn’t ask one person to help, didn’t ask to fill my car, experienced rudeness from both staff - I also had my young 7 week old baby in the car in this whole muck around and still expected to pay the whole amount - when it was their mistake and I could only afford $40 for the remainder of the week! The only offer I received was “you can pay $40 now and the rest later” well I didn’t want to come back so hefted up the whole amount - NEVER again would I use this service station for the lack of responsibility...
Read moreGot to be worst BP out there, Never enough staff on to cover the tills, They always worrying about making coffees and will have 2-3 making coffees while could be 5-10 people waiting in line to pay for their fuel and have other 2-3 workers walking around, not doing much who could be serving people but they won't, Sadly, I've got to go there to use a BP fuel card, Every time I've got to ask for the receipt, if you don't ask, they will not give you one, Most of the staff are pretty rude and cold or don't really understand or talk English, Been a few times that I want to wash my window screen just to find that they haven't put any liquid in the bucket of waters, It just put 100% of bucket of water, Surly with the prices you guys charge, you got afford liquid to put in the water, Went in over the weekend and was asking a simple question about their car wash and the lady behind the counter didn't seem to understand English enough so I give up and...
