Nudel Wellington — Restaurant in North Island

I recently visited Nudel, and it was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. First, the hygiene was absolutely appalling. The tables were sticky, and there was a noticeable lack of cleanliness throughout the restaurant. The restrooms were filthy, with overflowing trash bins and unclean surfaces — a clear sign of poor management and negligence when it comes to basic hygiene.

The service was equally dismal. Despite the restaurant being far from busy, the waitstaff was slow, inattentive, and borderline rude. We waited over 30 minutes just to have our orders taken, and when our food arrived, it was cold and poorly presented.

As for the food, it was simply awful. The noodles were bland and overcooked, and the sauce was watery with no depth of flavor. Every bite felt like a waste of money. I had expected something flavorful and fresh, but instead, I got a soggy, flavorless mess that didn’t even resemble what I had imagined.

Last night we ordered the hot and spicy noodle's , sweet and sour rice as well as some pork and chive dumplings - in total costing $65 (with delivery). The food quality was very poor and we were frankly very disappointed. The noodles were not spicy in the slightest (even after adding instructions to make them extra spicy) and the sweet and sour pork was largely fat and gristle, with what tasted like a very artificial sauce. I often like the cheaper sweet and sour pork you find in smorgasbord restaurants as it is a comfort food of mine, but this was just too much. It also had barely any meat compared to the rice that was served. After attempting to eat the meal, I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth and felt ill for several hours after. The dumplings however, were quite tasty. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish them after attempting to finish the mains. Overall, we were very disappointed in the quality of the food, especially considering the price point of the order.

I had an entertaining experience here. I was very hungry, and I ordered a beef brisket soup and I also asked for dumplings - 6 of them. The lady said No, that she'll just give me 4, and I had to laugh. I said to her, but I'm really hungry, and she replied, nope, you just have 4. So I said, ok, you're the expert, I'll have 4 hahahaha!

When they came out, I immediately thought, thank goodness she insisted I only have 4! They're huge! and oh so tasty!!

Also, I understand why they called themselves 'Nudel'. She makes her own noodles, and they are soooo good! I usually only want the soup, the veges and meat but I don't eat the noodles. When she told me she makes the noodles I had to try them. They're firm in the bowl but soft in the mouth, you bite into them and they dissolve. I enjoyed every mouthful. Needless to say, I left feeling full and oh so satisfied!
