In the early 90's this place was the best for value for a 20 something looking for an ethnic meal under $5 for lunch. 20 years later I walk in with my wife and child and I recognize the faces of the person making the food and the person waiting on the tables. It's the same people I shared my low cost lunches with! The amazing thing is that they recognize my wife and I! We smile and grab a seat and introduce them to our soon to be 21 year old daughter and the faces change from recognition to "OMG I'm old" The food is always good. The gingerbeer is still the great Bundeburg. We will use Roti Chenai as a Wellington Staple. Now it's up to our next generation to keep enjoying this place.

Roti Chenai is a longstanding restaurant known for serving up great Malaysian and southern Indian cuisine in a casual environment. The food is consistently good with appealing regional variations. I enjoyed chicken murtabak, which is bread stuffed with spicy chicken, egg and onion with lamb curry. The rest of my group had butter chicken with roti, chilli chicken masala and lamb korma. The service can be a bit slow and our meals were just lukewarm tonight. We also had to remind staff about our side order of roti, as we’d nearly finished our meals before they were served. Other than that, Roti Chenai is somewhere we happily return to for delicious meals.

It was not bad, actually one of my friend recomanded for me this resturant. Atmosphere was unique, but food was not really my style. I was kind of disappointed about nadi-gorang. This taste was just plain. And this resturant is not only served malasian food. There is india curry and indonesian food also. Its kind of mixed it.

. (05/2018) This is an Indian-Malaysian restaurant where you will find Malaysian curries made with Indian flavours and vice versa. This restaurant is conveniently located over Victoria Street and can be easily spotted on the roadside from a moving vehicle in normal traffic. Easily approachable. Well managed and organised. Service is well timed. Helpful and cordial staff. Good variety of Indian and Malaysian food including plentiful options for vegans and vegetarians is available in the menu. Food tastes good and well presented. Nice ambiance. You may find seating little worn out. Table service. Offers takeaways. PayWave facility is available at this location. Good for groups and catch-ups. Outdoor seating is not available. Good place for quick bite. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. There is no dedicated parking area available for this restaurant although ample street parking can be found around the entrance. Entrance is...

Haven't been to this place for several years and remembered why on going back today. The 'Curries' are basically a bowl of soup. Very bland and not enjoyable. Beware the 'Lunch Menu' RIP off. Signs outside advertise lunch specials, you get given a menu with lunch specials at the front. Roti Chenai with 2 roti's is special price of $10.90. Ask if the 2 roti's can be upgraded to garlic roti and all they say is no problem. When the bill comes they charge you the regular price for curry and 1 garlic roti and then add on top the regular price for 1 more garlic roti so your 'lunch special' now costs you $16.90. They need to at least say lunch specials can't be upgraded or tell you how the lunch special you ordered will now be charged so you can make up your mind if you want a bit if garlic to...
