Swimsuit Coffee Dixon Street — Restaurant in North Island

I finally got to try one of the Swimsuit cafes, after passing by two of their locations on a regular basis on my daily commute. The cafes always seem to be busy enough, with lots of regulars enjoying their offering.

We had a couple of coffees and two toasties. These were good, especially the freshness of the toasties. Although we didn’t have much to choose from, with the toasties being literally the only items on their ‘menu’, and one of the two flavours had already sold out. There were a few sweet treats in the cabinet to choose from too, which looked tasty.

Overall, the experience was good, however I found the service was lacking. The staff seemed a bit disinterested, considering we turned up during the middle of lunch service on a weekend, and they weren’t even busy. We sat outside and enjoyed our food and coffees for over an hour, but by the time we left nobody had cleared the table, with the plates having sat empty for about half an hour by that point.

I’m guessing they must’ve had a busy rush in the morning, or just a big week, but a bit of a smile and the occasional pass of the table to check on things wouldn’t go amiss!

Placed at the corner of Dixon Street and the Park it is one of the rare places offering to have a coffee sitting outside. The coffee was nice, full of flavor and some food was available in the cabinet but the food selection is not huge. The coffee came with some sparkling water. A hip place but nothing if you are after a quiet corner to have your cup and do some work. Busy place on a nice day. I had no food so cannot rate it now, but will come...
