The Bake House Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

Saturday 3.30pm disappointment... food and service NOT to Bake House standards.

Spending almost $50 on afternoon tea for three... and with plenty more afternoon to go.... this was an experience to miss.

The 3/4 cup of chips was cold and 'raw-tasting' (which was refunded without challenge). The waffle chips/wafers were cold and tough. The 'fish' was a cold 'sealord's fish fritter - not fish! The double-shot long black was tasty, small, but cold.

The service was simple, perfunctory and slow.

If it wasn't for my travel companions with me I would have been more brash/severe with the Bake House...

This place was my first eat in cafe in Whangarei. I had the eggs Benny and a Lrg soy Mocha which cost just over $30. I always compare to my usual and the price is a little bit cheaper than most considering prices these days. The eggs Benny was with bacon and was a little bit too tangy for my taste but was good. I would have given it a 5 but for some reason they squirted mayo over the eggs Benny which I didn’t like. Coffee was great no complaints there. All in all good place if you’re visiting and I would definitely comer again maybe just get something...

Wonderful!! Best cafe experience EVER! My mum and I had a late mother's day celebration coffee and food here, and left feeling great:) The staff treated us like we were really valuable to them even though we didn't order much. They were smiling, helpful and kind, and worked together to give us attentive service. The food was absolutely scrumptious, the coffee beautifully presented and yum, and much cheaper than anywhere...
