My first time in New Plymouth. My husband and I thought we go have a swim. It looked great👍looking through those holes from the outside in👍 Inside foyer great👍 My husbands hip was giving him grief, he wanted to go warm up in a spa or sauna. Going downstairs was not a comfortable option. So we got a ticket to the family/disability room. We got in the room, and it reaked of Mimi(urine) so bad my husband was feeling vomiting 🤮 sick.. I thought let's go further down to the far rooms, and it was no better. We quickly exited the family room. We looked downstairs to the changing room.. he was feeling sore enough. So we went and reported it to the girl at the desk. She said sorry. And gave a look of ..sorry I can't help you. I can't remember if they refunded us. I don't think they did. A woman who over heard said..it's the same for the changing rooms. The guy who cleans them is not very hygienic himself. That I needed to go to the council. Know what? I emailed the council..and have received no response back. The place needs to keep those changing rooms clean and hygienic. Update: husband been back, and said the whanau room is smelling nice..looks good clean tidy ..showers nice and...

Heading inside we found no place to swim as all the lanes with either booked or marked public slow, medium etc. The deep end had a bunch of people bobbing up and down to rave music and was also reserved and swimming classes were in three of the lanes. Asking at the front desk if there is anyway to determine if the pool is accessible to people just want ing to have a swim and have fun i.e. the internet i was informed there really wasn't that its just "crazy from 3pm to 6pm and you just have to take your chances" wasn't particularly helpful considering i had just paid $950 to watch other people use the pool. All it would take would be a better system that people could access online that had up to date bookings for classes etc, then we would know if the public pool was...
