We recently had the pleasure of dining at The Observatory Restaurant in Queenstown, and it was an experience that left a lasting impression. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes, and each one was crafted with exceptional skill and attention to detail.
We started our meal with the high country Lamb shoulder, and it was an absolute showstopper. The portion was incredibly generous, easily satisfying a group of four. The tender lamb paired perfectly with the accompanying potatoes, creating a harmonious blend of flavors.
The medium rare beef was cooked to perfection, showcasing the chef's expertise in handling quality cuts of meat. The coleslaw provided a refreshing crunch, complementing the richness of the beef. Additionally, the roasted seasonal veggies added a delightful burst of color and freshness to the plate.
One cannot overlook the breathtaking view that The Observatory Restaurant offers. The scenic vistas create an unforgettable backdrop for your dining experience. However, it's important to note that the restaurant does not provide parking facilities, requiring guests to find street parking nearby. Despite this small inconvenience, the awe-inspiring view makes it all worthwhile.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the classic crème brûlée. The caramelized sugar topping cracked perfectly, revealing a creamy and luscious custard underneath. It was the ideal finale to a remarkable culinary journey.
The Observatory Restaurant truly delivers an exceptional dining experience. From the ample portion sizes of the lamb shoulder to the mouthwatering beef and delightful side dishes, each component of the meal was executed with precision and care. The lack of parking is a minor inconvenience in comparison to the panoramic views that accompany your meal. I highly recommend The Observatory Restaurant for those seeking not only delicious food but also an unforgettable dining experience amidst Queenstown's...
Read moreWalked all the way to this restaurant just because the reviews are quite nice, I was there quite late around 930pm, I ordered the main for the king salmon and it was indeed lovely cooked, tender inside and crispy skin and also quite fresh seafood quality. However the desert just ruined it all, I had the panna cotta and it was literally just no shape at all when it was brought to me, its all falling apart. And I was so shocked and couldn’t believe how come the chef could let the waiter take this to a diner and how come the waiter could even brought that to the table with smiley face to me?!?! I know I came very late, and if you can’t serve it properly with whatever u have leftover u could let me know when I ordered it. Or cuz I am Asian so that you guys thought I would just eat it anyway and left?ok I was so tired after the late flight so I did not make a scene. And this was also the first dinning for my...
Read moreWe booked an early table for the Obervatory restaurant while staying in Queenstown. The staff were all lovely and really helpful, though the food was extremely underwhelming.
I ordered a medium rare cut of Rib-eye with a side of potato mash and steamed vegetables. The steak was well underdone and the vegetables raw. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly which was extremely black and burnt on top, and gooey throughout. The side of vegetables were seared burnt and overall our meals were not worth the price.
Similarly, the table of 8 behind us all had issues with their steaks being undercooked and their chicken wings being burnt.
We thought we would wash our food down with a mulled wine though this wasn’t a great idea either. It was just a glass of hot red wine with a slice of orange.
We now understand why it was one of the only restaurants available on First Table the night...
