I would really like to give more stars but simply cannot due to the couple of significant issues we had.
Firstly, the rooms themselves are actually very nice, spacious and under most circumstances would be very good value for money given the price we paid. One of the not so many places in Queenstown where you can park for free - we were also kindly permitted to use the car park before check in time on day of arrival. Bathroom especially was very modern with a large shower and spa bath, it even had underfloor heating!
There were significant road works that affected our 3 night stay, we were only informed of this 1.5 weeks ahead of our stay, which meant there was minimal alternative options for accomodation in Queenstown. If you are a light sleeper you would not have slept very well at all as the road works were taking place between the hours of 8pm-6am, and at times this was on the road just outside the property. Although I recognise this is not the fault of the accomodation, it is certainly not the customers fault - there was no offer of a discount/room upgrade etc to compensate for this.
On 2 occasions, housekeeping also opened the windows in our room and left them open all day - this is a security issue as anyone could have let themselves into the room by putting their hand through the open window and undoing the door lock! I feel as this happened twice this was not simply a ‘mistake’. Despite arriving within the advertised office hours inside the accomodation itself, check-in instructions were left on the door advising we had arrived outside of check-in hours/no one present to check us in personally...
Read moreI picked this motel because I knew the place was easy to get to on the corner of Dublin Street and the main road from Frankton. But when I got there, Dublin Street was blocked off by roadworks. I had to go a couple of blocks closer to town, cross a busy street, go up a hill, down another road, before I could turn into the roadworks area and rattle over a little bit of gravel to get into the hotel entrance. And I noticed that Queenstown was inundated with roadworks. Probably about a dozen motels could only be reached by various detours throughout the town. Having said all that, I liked the motel. I was in an en suite no-view studio which was quite nice because it had two long benches inside on which I could pile up my abundant clothes and bags. But the room was dark. I had to pull the curtains across and put the light on. The room was a few metres from the guest laundry and some stairs and people passed frequently. It was an extremely expensive room when lined up against accommodation in much of the rest of the country, but it was probably budget for Queenstown. There was a spa bath which I didn't use; it looked too deep. But there was a really good shower. I would probably stay again, but only for the location (if there was no roadworks). Please note, there are a couple of steps leading straight down once you open the...
Read moreGood location to town and good wifi, but average facilities - noisy fridge (there is no way to fix this during the stay, apparently only way to fix this will be unplugging the fridge overnight according to the staff) and a rude staff who was always hard to chase.
Not an exact info was delivered regarding on the parking onsite on the first day - there is no allocated parking space here by the way, but this info hasn't been delivered.
The staff told us that the parking space in front of our room is available for us to park which we thought this would be our car park. On the next day somebody else parked up at "our spot" so we parked behind their car (tried to talk to the reception, but there was no one for an hour- ish) and waited to remove our car when it's needed. Then the staff came and gave us a rude attitude saying we can't park like that and there is no allocated parking space here. Well, okay that's fine if this is not our own one and I can absolutely move our car, but you shouldn't talk to people like that. And also, you are in charge of informing them about this on their arrival.
Most of us were all here to enjoy holidays, not ruining our days because of these little things, especially not in...
