Tim Wilson Gallery — Attraction in South Island

On my most recent visit to Queenstown, Mark and I had the pleasure of visiting Tim Wilson's gallery on Edinburgh Drive, we were given a private tour by the wonderful informative Rachel Harper-Dibley. The gallery is truly amazing which displays a broad range of his works, from his earliest days to most recent, amongst some other exquisite treasures. To be able to step into his breathtaking Art Studio, it is then you truly get to see and feel what it would have been like for Tim to work his magic onto his canvas which brings life to his rich colourful paintings. The display of used brushes and tubes of used oil paints sprawled across his workbench for all to see, just how he had left them. The studio is filled with filtered light gathered from the floor to ceiling window which offers a spectacular view over Lake Wakatipu. I've admired Tim's incredible work for many years now. Im honered to have had the opportunity to have a tour through his magnificent gallery. Thankyou so much Vaj for making this happen and to all else involved. One of the most incredible moments of my life was having the opportunity to be, once again, immersed in Tim’s incredible talent with the most unbelievable experience of the gallery now being within Tim and Vaj’s absolutely breath taking home. This is a truly unique, special, overwhelming and emotional experience you will not have anywhere else in the world - to be so graciously welcomed into Vaj and Tim’s home to view his truly exquisite work was something I will never forget and will treasure forever. You will gasp, you will cry and you will be overcome with emotion while having this opportunity. This is something you will not find anywhere else in the world.

Rachel, thank you for your incredible tour, you are a treasure and such an asset to the whole Tim Wilson experience, your knowledge and absolute love for Tim’s work just bursts from you and just adds to the whole experience and takes it to a whole other level. Absolutely astonishing. Having visited the gallery in its old location and meeting Tim I was already taken back by his incredible skill in the way he is able to play with so many different layers of lighting, I was able to leave his gallery with a new found appreciation of art. With the new gallery in Tims home it is an amazing experience and one I highly recommend. His home is beautiful and the body of art is outstanding, ranging from his early pieces to his most recent including some unfinished art which allows you to see how he created his amazing work. Rachel is an amazing guide with very in-depth knowledge of Tim, his life and his work.
