On a rainy evening, seeking shelter and craving authentic Italian cuisine, we stumbled upon the hidden gem known as Archies Pizzeria. Walking in without a reservation, we quickly realized the popularity of this small restaurant. I would highly recommend anyone eager to indulge in their culinary delights to book in advance, as the experience is well worth the planning. Stepping through the door, we were warmly greeted by the proprietress, who exuded Italian charm and hospitality. Her passion for the cuisine was evident, and it set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. As we perused the menu, our attention was immediately drawn to the enticing statement claiming "the best pizza in the world." Intrigued, we eagerly ordered a pizza, and it certainly lived up to its bold proclamation. The pizzas at Archies Pizzeria are a true masterpiece. Baked to perfection, each slice delivered an explosion of flavors that transported us straight to Italy. The crust was thin and crispy, with just the right amount of chewiness. While the pizza was undoubtedly the star of the show, we also ventured into other culinary delights. The seafood risotto was a standout dish, leaving us thoroughly impressed. The portion size was generous, and the risotto was cooked to perfection, boasting a creamy texture and a symphony of flavors. The abundance of seafood, perfectly incorporated into the dish, elevated the overall experience, making it a seafood lover's dream come true.

I visited the restaurant as a solo diner without a reservation today. I used to came here with my friends but it was a rush today. The weather was bad so I asked to see if I could possibly sit inside. The first two staffs kindly informed me that a reservation was coming at 7pm and offered me the table as long as I could finish by then. I agreed, as it was only 5:42pm and I didn’t mind a quick dinner. Service was quick at first — I was seated at 5:42pm and found someone to take my order at 5:50pm, then I received my meal within 10 minutes. I finished eating at 6:23pm, which felt like good timing considering I usually eat slowly due to a past stomach issue. The food was good, and I appreciated the efficiency in the kitchen. However, I had a disappointing interaction just after finishing. The moment that I finished the last spoon of my plate, one of the staffs took away my plate and asked me if I want any dessert. Considering the timing, I kindly said it is okay but perhaps he could refill my water for me, which been nearly empty for some time. About two three minutes later, while I was still seated and waiting for water (my glass had been nearly empty for a while), another staff member — possibly the manager or owner — came abruptly to my table looking a bit angry and told me in a loud voice without any smile " Hey! You must leave now!" because the reservation was arriving. I was shocked by the tone and suddenness, especially since I was told I could stay until 7pm, and it wasn’t even 6:40pm yet. Maybe like 6:28pm. I had just been asked if I wanted dessert and had requested some water. I was shock and scared a little not knowing what to speak for a moment. This made me feel extremely rushed and uncomfortable, and unfortunately overshadowed the rest of the experience. I was pretty shock like I mentioned. I had been living in NZ since I was 14. This is the first time I been feeling like I did something really bad while I just being a normal customer. And it is the restaurant that I often go for with my friends. It definitely gave me bad memory. 1) I was being respectful by agreeing to leave before 7pm. 2) I finished my meal ahead of time (around 6:23pm), so I was well within the agreed window. 3) I was still waiting on water and had just been offered dessert — so the sudden shift felt abrupt and confusing. I didn’t overstay, and I wasn’t being difficult — I was simply dining. So I think the approach was unnecessarily rude, even if this staff had a logistical reason. Even though the restaurant had a reservation coming, it’s reasonable to expect a polite communication. Instead of saying, ‘ Hey! You must leave the table now! ” — especially in a sharp tone — is poor hospitality. It’s not just about clearing a table. It’s about how people are treated. Another details during the meal— when the cheese powder was taken from my table. The same staff member (the gentleman with the glasses) didn’t look at me or ask if I was still using it. He simply said, “Hey, may I take this from you?” and immediately took it to another table, without waiting to hear my answer. I still have food in my mouth. It made me feel like my presence or needs weren’t really considered, even for something as simple as a condiment. Later the table next to me say to me sorry they actually want the sauce (salad dressing) not cheese powder and they return the cheese to me. I think better communication is needed in the serving team and definitely customer service too. If there is any miscommunication within the team it is highly appreciated not to take it on the customer. If you tell me there is no seat, I will just rather spend my money elsewhere with better caring. This whole experience had just ruined my night. And it was kinda a special night for me. I came here to celebrate myself. But it might been a wrong decision unfortunately. ☹️🫠

Perhaps the second best pizza I ever had. Pasta was delicious and so did lamb cutlets. A Sunday afternoon lunch when you feel like some wood-fired pizza and keen to travel 24kms for it. Believe me it won’t disappoint you. Nice weather and you approach restaurant and owner welcomes you with greetings. Waitress provide you with menu and water, seems little unwelcoming but this can be ignored. You go through intense menu on pizzas and pastas. You also don’t want to offend staff and owner with unusual request about their food. However you still ask your waitress about a mix and match of pasta sauce and meat and she advised it can be done. Food arrives pretty quick and it turns out to be soooo delicious. Everything on table is exceptionally good. You again encounter the same waitress which is more comfortable now and more helpful. When you done and you couldn’t finish you ask for doggy bag and some other Waitress and she helped you for it and pack it very nicely. Price was not toooo bad as compare to other places. 5 starts to everything including service…keep it up 👍🏽

Our parents have been committed to La Porchetta for years and were not convinced to try new Italian restaurants in Auckland. We dined on the 10th of February 2020. As we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the staff looking after the other guests in the outdoor setting. We were also greeted by the looks of it the Manager/Owner of the restaurant. We ordered the Calamari for Entree; Mains Chicken Pizza, Carbonnarra, Spinach Salad and Scotch Fillet. We all had a taste, and all were aspiring for such love and warmth, truly authentic Italian cuisine. And YES! our parents are convinced that this restaurant has indeed stepped above La Porchetta. The Chefs were fantastic to watch them all prepare and cook food. The service was smooth and well coordinated with the offer of salt and pepper. This gesture to offer salt and pepper are hard to witness these days, an iconic fine dining gesture that genuinely elevates the guests' dining experience. Well, Enjoyed Friday night dinner. Thank you, Archies.

When here for a birthday dinner. They were super busy when we arrived at 6 on a Saturday. A bit ad hoc in service with menus missing from our reserved table. Also slow to take orders and no one refilled our drinks. Initially told this was because of a shift change but there were plenty of times when staff were looking around just not in our direction (we were outside but close to the building). Food was a bit slow to come out but was delicious. The lasagne was not oily as can be the case elsewhere. My only criticism was that the portion seemed small especially when compared to the salad. The vibe of the place was okay. Heaps of people in quite close proximity meant it sometimes felt like you were having to speak loudly to others at your table. They were clearly popular though with people waiting for tables. Would go back and try the pizza which looked incredible and a popular choice with others.

Jan 22 Had the most wonderful evening with tastiest pizza, pasta, salads, happy cheerful staff, and cherry on the top was Pike (pronounce peek at) - the manager / owner. She is just next level with her hospitality skills. She made my wife's bday 🎂 so special when she suprised us with a cute cake and whole restaurant sang happy birthday for my wife. I would say if you looking for having an awesome enjoyable evening, just head straight to Archies.. Cheers 🍻 highly recommend 👍 Feb 23 Another awesome night with total satisfaction with every aspect of hospitality , food, service , value for money and pike . She is the owner founder of this gem in Auckland food hospitality scene and nobody knows how to run a restaurant better than her. Please tell her you read my review, talk nicely ☺️🫡.. you won't be disappointed.. 🙂👍
