Bagel Love Wellesley St W — Restaurant in Waitematā

I have been visiting Bagel Love for the authentic bagel experience for a while now. Firstly the service is outstanding, all staff seem happy to be there and are authentic, and prioritize the customer.

The bagels are perfect, dense but light, they fill that hole in your soul that your Dad made when he walked out on you, and makes you feel that he is proud of you. They lightly toast the bagel, and put fillings on it. Similar to how you should go through life letting the heat crisp you, to add a slight crunchy texture. A wise human once said that 'variety is the spice of life', and variety they have. From sweet to savory they have a number of options.

The coffee could rival a Wellington coffee, flavorful and extracted for the right amount of time, similar to an employee that knows when they should quit their role before becoming bitter. They serve this in a takeaway Kokako cup that reminds you to spend more time in nature, or if you eat in, a clay mug that has the good Juju.

This visit left me genuinely disappointed.

First and most concerning – basic hygiene standards were not followed. The staff member touched her hair and immediately went on to cut my bagel with her bare hands, right after handling the payment machine. No gloves, no handwashing.

The food itself was very average. They just toasted a basic bagel in the bread toaster – nothing special in flavor or preparation. For the same price, I could have gone to Best Ugly Bagels and had something way better. In fact, I could have made a yummier one at home.

The store smelled heavily of stale oil, hard to stay in the store to finish eating.

The service felt rushed and pushy. A female staff member urged us to order a bagel before we even had the chance to look at the menu or take a breath. It didn’t feel welcoming or relaxed at all.

Really hope the management can improve hygiene practices, food quality, and overall...

I don't normally post reviews but had to today. To the person who made my order this morning ( cream cheese bagel with tomato) you are just the loveliest person ever. Not only did my bagel arrive within 10 minutes of being ordered which is astonishing service but it was the most delicious thing.

I'm totally a bagel snob by now being pregnant with cravings and I can say nothing compares. Not only was it delicious and obviously fresh and filled to the brim with fillings unlike alot of other places but the garlic and herb cream cheese is something I need on demand at all times pleeease sell it via a tub. You also went out of your way to listen to my craving requesting for lemon juice and other bits and peices and even wrote a lovely note on my bag along with bagel chips in there.

After an awful morning I can say you truly not only made my day but I will for sure be ordering again.
