Empire Tavern — Restaurant in Waitematā

Victoria and the team were legends today with our group reservation. That was the smoothest experience I've had with a large event that I can recall. Most of us ordered ahead of time, and despite that fact even those that hadn't were served promptly. Our group of 30+ received our orders and drinks within 10 minutes, giving us plenty of time to eat and chat, to be on our way within 1 hour. Fantastic result if you have work and meetings to attend. Elsewhere in the area, I've struggled with a party of 2 or 4 with no communication of delays, causing longer stays and missed meetings or rushing the meal. Truly impressive teamwork from Empire! The food was filling with positive sentiment from the rest of the group. Great portions and clean presentation. There were vegetarian options which should be expected anywhere, but sadly still might not be a guarantee! The team were really friendly and upbeat too. I didn't have anything negative I could say about this experience. I need to visit more often and try more...

A few of us met for lunch at this venue on 22/04/2021. The lunch deal was excellent value for the money, and the atmosphere was great. However, an incident which was disappointing was when it came to the paying of the bill. I specifically inquired from the Waitress who served us whether drinks were included in the $15/= steak deal. She confirmed that the drink was included. However, when I went to pay, the Cashier insisted that the drink was separate and defended the Waitress and demanded that I pay separately for the drink. Well, not that I cannot afford to pay $5.50 for a drink, but the principal behind acquiring the same, is not honourable. My advise to all is, firstly, do not go by what the Waiters /Waitresses say, but double check the menu card for yourself. Secondly, though these Restaurants have acquired so called good names for their service, when it comes to making a 'quick buck', they are...

The easiest 5 stars I have ever given. Our jaws dropped upon seeing and tasting both our mains (lamb rump and pork belly) and desserts (apple crumble and brownie sundae). The food and service far exceeded our expectations. Empire Tavern is part of the Star Group, and you can get great deals like the Monday 2for1 mains we used simply by downloading their app. However, my friend and I would happily pay full price for these mains in future, and we decided to order dessert based on their quality and were so glad we did. I can't think of a single thing that could be improved. Thank you to the waitstaff and kitchen team who made our night one to remember and hopefully repeat again soon!
