This is a very special place. From watching the staff hand-roll the bagels to the gigantic wood fired bagel oven, to the hot sauces and store packed bagels you can buy on site, you will love the experience here. And then comes the bagels themselves!!
They are the freshest and most flavorsome bagels you will ever taste. Ingredients are of excellent quality (especially the windowsill grown basil!)
I'd highly recommend the King Salmon and T.A.B The King Salmon is an absolute classic... Cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, capers, dill and lemon juice... and the NZ sourced smoked salmon is the best you will ever taste. The T.A.B stands for tomato, avocado and basil, but it also has cream cheese and lemon fennel olive oil which gives the bagel a unique and mouth watering aniseed flavour. It's subtle, but goes perfectly with the combination. After you've tried them fresh, go buy some of their freshly packaged plain bagels they sell in store because you'll be craving some more in no time! The coffee is outstanding. I forgot to ask what beans they use but my God, it's...
Read moreAlways loved coming here but have had a super disappointing experience on Saturday morning ordered 2x bagels tab ($12) and king salmon ($16) takeaway. Just checked now and we had been charged $34.80. Took SOOOOOOO long for two takeaways when they didnt seem very busy. What i thought was our order came up up on the pass the guy at the till demanded to see the docket which had been thrown away but once he made the worker dig through the bin said it was for uber eats (which was not picked up after another over 15 mins of waiting) ( I am now wondering if the extra cost was put on as an uber charge?)The guy who finally gave us our bagels did apologise for the wait. Luckily they tasted AMAZING as always!! Hoping it was just a bad day . Pity as it was our first night out after having two kids (hence the takeaway to relieve the grandparents)and I had been sooo looking forward to breakfast here as have always had great experiences in the past. Happy to change my star rating if the wait can be explained as I know unexpected things can...
Read moreI flew in from Bali, and was awake early on a blustery morning in July. This bagel shop (and shop is a poor descriptor; factory might paint a better image) drew me in from 100 meters away. Between the delicious, doughy smell coming from their massive oven and the crowd of people waiting outside in 7 degree weather, I knew this was somewhere special. I ordered something resembling a deli sandwich: piled with pastrami, pickles, and melted swiss. It kept me feeling warm until well after I got on my flight home a week later. I was equally impressed and injured by their hot sauce selection; I didn't imagine they'd have one of the hottest sauces I've ever tried (Fire Dragon's Insane sauce) available for just anyone to try. Fortunately there were bottles available for sale so I could recreate the feeling of filling my mouth with hot coals in the comfort of my own home. Best Ugly Bagels could not be recommended highly enough. To paraphrase Tony Bourdain: "It's worth the 15...
