I recently visited Bao & Noodle on Lorne Street and was thoroughly impressed by the quality and flavor of their dishes.
Shaomai (Pork & Prawn Dumplings): These dumplings were a highlight—juicy and flavorful with a delicate, thin wrapper that held together perfectly. The filling had a delightful balance of pork and prawn, offering a savory bite each time.
Pan-Fried Buns: The buns were soft and fluffy on top with a crispy, golden base. The pork filling inside was savory and well-seasoned, making each bite a delightful contrast of textures.
Pork & Prawn Wonton Soup: The broth was rich and flavorful, complementing the tender wontons filled with a tasty pork and prawn mixture.
Braised Beef with Rice: The beef was tender and well-marinated, served over perfectly cooked rice. The dish was hearty and satisfying, with flavors that were both comforting and robust.
The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. Watching the chefs prepare fresh bao by the window added a nice touch to the dining experience.

The bao buns were really great, I had the vegetarian, and my friend had the pork, which he also really enjoyed.
The only recommendation would be a more comprehensive selection of vegetarian options in terms of noodles. By my count, there are currently only two options out of 7, a sour and spicy glass noodle, which was a bit lacklustre or a cold noodle which on a cold night isn’t really what I was after.
All in all, an excellent place for great Bao and...
