I recently visited Bao & Noodle on Lorne Street and was thoroughly impressed by the quality and flavor of their dishes.

Shaomai (Pork & Prawn Dumplings): These dumplings were a highlight—juicy and flavorful with a delicate, thin wrapper that held together perfectly. The filling had a delightful balance of pork and prawn, offering a savory bite each time.

Pan-Fried Buns: The buns were soft and fluffy on top with a crispy, golden base. The pork filling inside was savory and well-seasoned, making each bite a delightful contrast of textures.

Pork & Prawn Wonton Soup: The broth was rich and flavorful, complementing the tender wontons filled with a tasty pork and prawn mixture.

Braised Beef with Rice: The beef was tender and well-marinated, served over perfectly cooked rice. The dish was hearty and satisfying, with flavors that were both comforting and robust.

The service was prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. Watching the chefs prepare fresh bao by the window added a nice touch to the dining experience.

Overall, Bao & Noodle offers authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine in the heart of Auckland. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality dumplings...

Restaurant atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meal Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommended plate: Pork buns and Shaomai Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was particularly thrilled with their assortment of buns, shaomai, soft bean curd, and pork and prawn wontons soup. Let me begin by praising the star of the show—the pork buns. Soft, fluffy, and filled with succulent pork, they were an absolute delight for my taste buds.

Another standout dish was the shaomai. These delicate dumplings were beautifully presented, with a thin, translucent wrapper encasing a delectable mixture of seasoned meat. Each bite revealed a burst of savory goodness, and I found myself savoring...

I came here for a very quick bite to eat, and the service did not disappoint; within 10 minutes, our ordered dishes were brought to us.

The bao buns were really great, I had the vegetarian, and my friend had the pork, which he also really enjoyed.

The only recommendation would be a more comprehensive selection of vegetarian options in terms of noodles. By my count, there are currently only two options out of 7, a sour and spicy glass noodle, which was a bit lacklustre or a cold noodle which on a cold night isn’t really what I was after.

All in all, an excellent place for great Bao and...

This restaurant offers only a few items so there is not much complication when choosing what to eat. We tried the spicy wonton soup, sour soup with glass noodles and the regular dumpling. All were tasty and servings were generous. The restaurant looks small from outside but it is quite spacious with tables and chairs in the middle section. It is also clean and bright. One thing you should not forget to buy is their fresh soy milk that can be hot and cold as well as with flavours like date and walnut. I tried the hot date soy milk which was yummy. It was not that sweet and the size was decent.
