I work a hospo job, I know how taxing it is, I know how draining it can be and that on some days you have bad days. However, I do not think it’s fair to let it out on your customers.
On the 29th of February, I went to Gong Cha Queen St. with my sibling, to buy drinks. My sibling saw how the employee rolled her eyes at the customer in front of us (they’re Filipinos, I know because I am one too) because they were taking a little bit of time to order. I doubt it’s her first time seeing customers who may take some time to order. However, she was frowning. When the time came for us to order, she was a bit aggressive with her tone, but I think she calmed down a little when my sibling was staring at her with a confused look. Because what made her so angry? And why direct it to your customers?
Today, 11th of March, I came with a friend this time. I haven’t seen her in some time and I wanted to hang out at Gong Cha to catch up, and when we ordered, I noticed it was her again. My heart dropped a little, because true to my suspicions, she wasn’t smiling; she barely made eye contact either. Now, I’m not usually a Karen like this, little details like this I can let slide, but not what she did after. Around 4:00 pm, my friend’s card declined as she failed to transfer funds on time when her phone died. She told the cashier that she’ll be transferring, by the time this occurred, the employees already made my friend’s drink. Okay, no biggie.
My friend called me to ask for help. I gladly paid for her drink. I was no. 78, my friend was no. 79 (order numbers). Then, the staff employee who was serving both my friend and I, handed the drink aggressively towards my friend, even worse? She threw the straw in front of my friend’s face as if we didn’t pay for our drinks.
Although I already rang the manager in charge regarding this behaviour, I’m simply baffled at how some retail workers can get away with this, ESPECIALLY with cameras around. I work at one myself, although not Gong Cha, but I serve more customers and meet some rude ones too, but I don’t think I ever threw anything in front of them out of anger. I blurred the employee’s name out of respect, to avoid her being doxxed and for other legal reasons, however, I am extremely disappointed with the way my friend was treated and I hope before you hire people, there’s some sort of background check regarding attitude problems or something, because how is it that it’s the SECOND time I’ve heard or seen unprofessional behavior from the...
Read moreI am gutted that this is my first ever negative review and that I felt compelled to write about it.
I ordered a Lychee Smoothie with Lychee Pearls (my new discovery on UberEats) as an Friday work treat pick me up, at Gongcha Queen St.
As soon as my order got called, I already noticed the smoothie was already melted but thought it was just the pearls at the bottom. I usually drink it right away but thought it would be worth saving it till I got back to my office in Britomart (5mins walk away).
Because I noticed it was already melted, i tried to mix the drink with my straw and drink it. Then noticed there was no Lychee pearls.
I walked back (since it's a short walk) to mention it to them and the lady who made the drink said it's a slushee, it's ice, it melts..... Sorry? I have ordered Gongcha Ubereats from Dom Rd to Three Kings and that takes about 15-20mins and my slushy is still very icy and cold. CLEARLY the drink was not made well if it melted within the moments it got made...
I am disappointed that the lady just put the pearls in my existing melted lychee sugar water and I just had to drink it...
Personally, i find buying these drinks often is expensive so when I do, it's a very rewarding treat. Can't believe I paid 8.20 for this experience. Never again.
I'm upset because I know the level of quality I should expect to receive when I order these drinks since I usually order mine on Ubereats delivery. I wouldnt be as upset if I didn't know drinks would still be icy/slushee form even after 15 mins.
Just want to clarify, the lady serving me was nice although she offered no satisfactory solution. Just told me its a drink that melts (obviously...). The lady making the drink was the one was adamant not to make me a new drink ......
Read moreI had just been to this branch of gong cha. When I frequent this part of town, I visit gong cha on a regular basis and so I have a loyalty card. Since being further away from gong cha, I haven’t been as much. Being a regular customer, I have a loyalty card where you get stamps to earn free or discounted drinks in the future. It turns out my card is an older sort and the lady behind the counter replaced it with a current one. Since I had an stamp on the old card already, I asked for the lady to transfer it to the new card. It’s only fair as it is an actual purchase. The lady gave me all sorts of excuses to not transfer the stamp and asking for receipts when you never needed the receipt to claim in the first place. The stamp was a valid purchase so why wouldn’t she transfer it?!
This place has the worst customer respect and service. And it seems as though they want to swindle...
