Sumthin Dumplin O'Connell — Restaurant in Waitematā

As you head into the shop you can see them make the dumplings by the windows at the entrance. It was closed when we arrive just before 6pm because they had a large order that was being made. They did hand out fortune cookies while we waited. There was already a line and the shop wasn't even open yet. Large menu on top of the counter so its easy to see what they have to offer, as well as the sizes, regular with 6 or large with 10. You can smell the cooking dumplings as you wait in line. We ordered and managed to get one of the few seats in the store. Most people just took their orders outside to eat them piping hot. The dumplings came with a sauce of your choosing. They also had other things on the menu like tofu fries and shakes, but they weren't available when we were there. The dumplings were bready. I was expecting something more akin to a gyoza. Flavours were nice. We had the OG and the 3 spice prawn. Tasted nice with and without the sauce. I felt it was more snackish than a meal though (otherwise you might end up ordering all...

Rare opportunity to go out and find something delicious and uncomplicated; walked into this place (7pm) and Shane was an honest, top guy, sold me the 3 spice (prawn) dumplings (sold out of most other options which tells me the place is popular, with being open only 4 weeks), introduced me to the head chef (mum) after which I left with my order. Sat just meters away from the shop and opened the box. Good Lord, the look was tantalizing; but the taste was Devine! Very happy with these dumplings (as a head chef in ponsonby myself, I couldn't fault this meal in the slightest!) Will most CERTAINLY be back and highly recommend all to try! Vegan and vegetarian...

Great little spot for some delicious takeaway dumplings. Came here upon the recommendation of a colleague and was not disappointed! The dumplings aren't like the traditional steamed/fried dumplings you think of, these are something different. The dumplings come in two sizes: Small - 6 dumplings, or large - 10 dumplings. 6 will satisfy, but if you're really hungry go for a large! Definitely a good spot for a decent lunch. Be aware that is is takeaway only and don't be too put off by a long line, the wait is usually quicker than you expect. if you're getting a Friday lunch consider getting here early before the line...
