We booked The Birdcage months in advance for our end of year work Christmas function. About a month before the event we were informed by the Manager/Owner that there was a UFC event already booked and instead of having access to the inside area from 5pm, we would have to stay outside in the courtyard until 6pm.
We were compensated for this by having happy hour, including a very limited selection of beverages, all evening. We accepted this.
On the afternoon/evening of our event, 6pm came around and the UFC event was still going. We had to wait until approximately 7:40 pm for everyone to be allowed inside.
I don't even know what time we ended up eating but is was very late and very inconvenient. We had a presentation to do after dinner and some people ended up missing this as it got too late.
We were given very little time to set up and despite being informed via email that "You are welcome to decorate the restaurant and themed functions are welcome...", we were then told we couldn't use the table scatters as they were too hard for the cleaners to get off the floor.
The waiting staff looked miserable and acted like we were a nuisance.
We were told we could be at the venue until 12am. At 11:15pm, after our event started almost 3 hours later than it originally should have, we were told "last drinks" and given the hurry up to leave.
We reached out to the Manager/Owner afterwards via email to let him know we were disappointed and have had no reply.
I will never go back here and will advise friends, family and colleagues to...

Read moreI was absolutely blown away at the high quality professional service with a smile at The Birdcage Tavern. We celebrated my son’s 22nd birthday, graduation and farewell on the same evening with approximately 120 guests. Phil and his team were across everything from ambience, atmosphere, welcoming to organising cake presentation and cutting. What impressed me was Phil got on the microphone 10mins before speeches to let guests know to go to the bathroom, grab a drink and to get ready as bar was closed during speeches. This made the whole event flow perfectly. There are big screens for the slide shows, any videos and such a warm presence from the fairy lights to the feel of this iconic building.Car parking is amazing just behind the building with a one minute walk , if that and the lighting is on at night creating a safe feel as you go to your cars when leaving and there are 29 car parks for your guests which is even better. The platters were served to guests and the food was ‘hot’ and fresh. A very memorable send off for my son and a bunch of amazing memories . I would not hesitate to book here again. Thank you Phil and to your amazing team also! Nothing was too...
