30/04/2024 Well, I was a walk in solo for dinner this evening at this venue. I saw the average 4.5 ratings and thought it would be pretty good (so expectations were really pretty âhighâ). My expectations were exceeded - greatly! I can only say it was a privilege (true use of the word) to be able to eat the 200 gram eye fillet steak (with brandy and peppercorn sauce) and chips with truffle aioli/mayo I have just had here. I have worked in good (Aberdeen Angus only) steak restaurants and have eaten in more than my fair share of good/great/top places. Charley Noble is right up there - I honestly donât think I have ever had betterâŚ. See the wiped clean plate at the endâŚ. I also got to sit directly in front of the kitchen and got to watch the great/smooth processes and attention to detail of the team working there - Photo 3. It will end up NZ$100 for me with 1 good glass of red. Just waiting on my Tarte Tatin⌠Just arrived! And spectacular too! Brilliant brilliant brilliant.

Food: The entrees were nice, would recommend. The main was very disappointing. The beef cheek had very salty beef and very sweet mushroom that I had to drink water after every bite. The pork was also very very very fat, roughly 80% of it was fat. I made a complaint to the waitress and I got a replied from the chief, âthis is how it is, it is the fattest dish on the menu. Sorry you didnât like it.â I though this was not a very satisfactory reply. But this is my personal opinion. Service: Everything was fine as we got in the restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes and no one approached us where we then asked for someone to help us order. When they approached us they explained the menu which is very nice but I would have expected so when they gave us the menu rather then remaining silent and giving us an explanation when we have decided what to order despite being confused about the menu. The atmosphere of the place was cozy and warm there were definitely a lot of people. The seat arrangement is slightly too packed, and itâs slight hard to move around if you are seated at the middle of the restaurant.

I've heard great things. I chose the king prawn risotto as a main. I thought I could finally break my bad luck with terrible risottos. This restaurant comes highly recommended, I went all in. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. It was bad. It was brought out on a big plate but the serving was tiny. Maybe as small as a side portion of rice at an Indian but spread thinly across the plate. There were about 3 king prawns. The other meals on the table looked amazing. I asked the waiter to double check. He brought over the manger. Her attitude and demeanor was passive aggressive. It's best to avoid people like this. I left it so as not to disturb the other dinners at the table. The service was good. I brought this up after, over the phone. I hoped the manager would just offer to refund the whole dish, she didn't. To go or not to go? Of course go but maybe lower the expectations and have 3 or 4 drinks beforehand, you'll have more fun. And don't get the risotto.

Very busy joint which coincidently was just 3 mins walk from our hotel. We booked dinner on the spot as we liked the dining space, crowd and energy. No âfixed menuâ or extra charge, we were able to order anything we wanted for the night which is what I like. We love sharing food to try more things so we asked for the pasta first then steak. The girl didnât pick up the note during the order but later on she resolved the problem and got the kitchen to serve the pasta as entree first. That would make the experience better since we focus on one dish each. Also, our table was way too small and cramped for anything more than a dish. The ribeye on the bone is amazing. It came medrare as requested. Iâve attached some pic for your viewing pleasure too. Possibly one of the better steak we had throughout the whole time in NZ. I donât know why they rank âso lowâ on TA, but they are definitely 5 star for me!!

We visited on a Friday evening without reservation. The restaurant was full and we have to wait for about 30â at the bar until a table was available. We had cocktails and some starters while waiting. Cocktails were good, bruschettas with bean and tomato were delicious as well as the fish croquettes. Tried also the burnt ora salmon which was good. For mains we got the grilled octopus and the venison. We were not impressed by any of them. Especially the octopus was most probably boiled before grill and was chewy. Service was slow but very kind, cheerful and helpful. Also they were kind enough to reduce the price of the octopus as we were not happy. Wine list was good and available options nicely presented. Very helpful for someone who does not know the local wines. Overall a decent urban restaurant in a contemporary setting with nice music and vibes. Would we visit again? - Maybe

We had a lovely dinner, both had the eye fillet and it was delicious, melt in your mouth type of delicious. The peas had bacon and parmesan through them, they were crunchy, a little salty but just yummy. James was our server for the evening and he was the best, kept us laughing, made a great pitch for the menu (had answers for majority of the things we asked) and bonus he introduced me to a really good Pinot Noir. Shout out to burn cottage, i am your newest fan! We finished the night with the Tarte Tartin to share and it was the perfect size to share for two. It was the perfect temperature no resistance when sliced so cooked through really well and not too sweet, just yummy! We really enjoyed our evening the atmosphere was vibrant a great mix of a crowd, the food spectacular and the service was excellent!
