Tuatua — Restaurant in Wellington

Great location let down by the staff. Waited a long time for two toasties. One turned up eventually but the other took so long I had to ask the young lady on the counter what was going on. She displayed a condescending attitude stating that our order got mixed up with another customer. I stated that it would have been great to communicate this to us, rather than have us wait without knowing what was going on. Her response was dismissive. Won't eat here again.

Update: Not impressed with the response below. Another condescending answer saying "sorry, but..." I can confirm that if the staff told you it was a busy patch and that's why our food was late, they were not being totally honest with you. There appeared to be 3 staff on with maybe 3 tables with 10 customers total. We could hear your staff giggling and laughing out the back and witnessed only 3 customers approach the counter while we were waiting. It was not busy while we were there. Totally understand if our order was accidentally claimed by another customer, although we never saw any other toasties being bussed, but the point is, we were left waiting for an unreasonable length of time with zero communication. I'm surprised this cafe has so few reviews. It definitely deserves 5 stars or more!! I had an excellent piccolo with sunflower mylk (no extra charge for that mylk), it was full of flavour, exactly the way I like. The plant-based mylks are organic, cold-pressed, no additives (the usual Tetra Pak ones are mostly water and chemicals, and filling up landfills). Really lovely little cafe right on the water front. I stopped there for a coffee and lunch after exploring the Te Papa museum. Service was friendly and my food came out quickly. I ordered the BLT and it was delicious. Reasonable prices as well. The only downside is there is limited seating! It didn’t affect me, as I was dining alone and it wasn’t very busy.
