A Tale of Two Nights at The Library Lagos – From Disappointment to a Spectacular Comeback
Following my candid review of our disappointing Valentine’s Day dinner experience at The Library Lagos, I was contacted directly by Ellen, the Guest Relations Manager. Her gracious apology and sincere offer to personally host my wife and me on another evening spoke volumes about the establishment’s willingness to listen, take responsibility, and most importantly, act.
We accepted the invitation and returned on March 21st — and I must say, The Library completely redeemed itself.
From the moment we walked in, the tone was different. Ellen received us warmly and introduced us to Patricia, our dedicated waiter for the evening, who was attentive, courteous, and remarkably professional. It was clear that this time, every detail mattered.
As for the evening itself — nothing short of electric. The atmosphere was immersive, the DJ kept the energy alive, and the live performances were world-class. From elegant ballerinas and soulful singers to a captivating saxophonist and violinist, the entertainment was on point. However, the true highlight of the night came unexpectedly — the entire lounge erupted as waiters started waving napkins to booming house music, creating a lively, joyous scene. And just when we thought it couldn’t get more dramatic, a masked waiter stormed in with a CO2 fog machine gun, filling the room with icy fog while the vents joined in, blanketing the lounge in a thrilling sensory spectacle.
Of course, the food — as always — remained top tier. Our sushi platter, featuring three distinct varieties, was the star of the night. Flavors were bold, fresh, and beautifully presented — just as we remembered.
In summary, The Library Lagos took a negative experience and turned it into an unforgettable night. The way the management — particularly Ellen — handled the situation showed professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to improving the guest experience. That matters.
My wife and I will absolutely be returning, and we now confidently rank The Library among the very best nightlife destinations not just in Lagos, but across this side of the globe.
Kudos to the entire team for a truly remarkable comeback.

Read moreI’ve been to The Library twice since the rebrand, and each visit has been amazing. The entire experience feels sophisticated from the generous food portions to the ambience and incredible cocktails. I think the bottle prices could be a bit more affordable, the overall vibe more than makes up for it.
The on-screen art adds a special touch to the overall experience . It was my friends birthday and they went out of their way to make her feel special by giving her a sash, and displaying her picture on the screen which we really appreciated. The manager’s warm smiles and spontaneous compliments genuinely lift the mood and enhance the guest experience.
The entertainers are top-tier: the singers have amazing voices, and the dancers are absolutely captivating, with stunning costumes that elevate the whole show.
Honestly, The Library is one of the few places in Lagos with true repeat value. Can’t...
