Alright, buckle up, because our recent dining experience at Brasserie Opera was less "brasserie" and more "brouhaha." My first piece of advice to the owners of Brasserie Opera ? Start with a double firing. First, the chef. Then, the restaurant manager for clearly napping on the job while the culinary ship went down. The food was a solid "meh minus." For the prices they're slinging, I expected my taste buds to do the tango. Instead, they politely shuffled their feet in the corner. The main courses were so bland, I suspect the spices staged a walkout, over the fire burned salad, still dressed with dirt from the ground it was grown in... And the desserts? Let's just say my pastry felt like it had seen more birthdays than I have. It was drier than the Sahara after a week-long sandstorm. Our waitress seemed to have majored in "Ignoring Customer Feedback." When we politely mentioned the culinary shortcomings, she responded with the enthusiasm of a sloth stuck in molasses. To add insult to injury, the complimentary bread (which, you know, is usually served before the main course) arrived fashionably late, like a celebrity who missed their cue. Oh, and the menu? Apparently, it was more of a suggestion list. Half the items were MIA, leading to a starter-less existence and a severe case of drink-order disappointment. Honestly, you could throw a dart at a map of this area and probably hit a restaurant that offers a better experience. So, my dear reader, do yourself a favor and explore those other options. Your taste buds will thank you. You've been warned!

Some dishes that we ordered were fine, but some were not. Particularly the fish of the day (if I remember correctly it was cod) was not good at all. Maybe the fish alone was fine, but we couldn't tell because everything was covered with bacon. The whole main dish was greasy and salty. Also, on the restaurant website I could have booked a table for late evening hours like 8pm or so. To our surprise, when we arrived at 5pm to a fully booked restaurant, approximately an hour later waiters started cleaning the table. Then I noticed on maps, that they are closing in 5 minutes which explains that our menu was taken before we could have even thought about a desert. The restaurant, if you don't mind eating in an open space, looks nice. The opera inside looks very aesthetically pleasing and the look on the shore is very nice.

Ah, Brasseri Opera – where you pay about 1700 kr for two people and get the full canteen deluxe experience. We were treated to a beef and a cod dish that could’ve easily passed for yesterday’s leftovers at an average-minus office cafeteria. The desserts? Freshly made by in-house dessert chef, they said. The desserts had the texture of something you’d leave out to absorb humidity. One lonely beer and some alcohol-free juice completed the feast. Honestly, the only thing worth the price tag was the view – and guess what? You can enjoy that for free by sitting outside on the Opera House like everyone else with a bit of common sense. Absolutely a no-go. Disappointment, served cold.

OVERRATED. GOOD ONLY FOR DRINKS We came here very hungry after a long day, and a ballet at the Opera House. We were the only customers seated at the dinner section of the restaurant with of course ALL empty tables. The sun was blinding bright at 5:30pm. When we asked to move to another table, we were moved to the adjacent table which had the same blinding sun issue while there were many tables totally in the shade.

We ordered the burratta toast and was going order another of the same because it was delicious but didn't get past sparkling water because the server disappeared on us, so we just left. The management team sat inside with clear view of us and didn't care.

I have over 45,700 Google contributions and over 59 million views of my reviews. I like to eat and eat at restaurants which are over priced when the food and the service are the experience.

I don't recommend this restaurant due to poor service, and overly...
