Wine pairing price = $107 USD (1215 NOK) Value (retail) = $41 Markup = 260% 😍 (ranks 12th out of 65+ pairings, very roughly normalizing for Norway's alcohol taxes fo 22% plus a flat bottle fee of 54 NOK, it's probably 5th out of 65ish)
What a gem!!!
Value - This review comes after also having visited Maaemo in the same trip. The wines poured in this pairing was equivalent and in some ways better, but for a third of the cost. Avg cost for the bottles poured was $62 (was $63 at Maaemo). Oldest vintage poured here was 2015 (was 2016 for Maaemo). Most expensive retail bottle was $100 (was $89 at Maaemo).
Service - The service was fantastic. Very well timed, great explanations of what we were enjoying and really well paired. They explained each pairing was 10cL (except slightly smaller for the sweeter dessert wine) so we had between 2-3 glasses for the dinner.
Food - Delicious scallops w/ a lovely yuzu (I love getting acidic dishes in Norway, they're harder to find IMHO), delicious dessert esp considering that most restaurants can't afford to employ a patissier, but theirs was really nicely done...

Read moreLife changing flavors. I don't eat out much because things ~usually lack flavor and I can do better at home, but this place? Out of this world with flavor that had me questioning life. The chef brought our our food and told us about it /he picked some mushrooms himself for the dish! Service was excellent. Would go again! Highly recommend. Some of the best food of my lifetime. ~Fluffy, buttery Brioche buns come first for all meals we experienced. All meals have thoughtful, intentional, and complex flavor profiles and beautiful plating. ~Both times we visited the restaurant was not crowded and we were seated immediately without reservations. ~It's baffling this place doesn't have 3 Michillin stars. ~First night we ordered the charcuterie for starter, then mains we had the halibut and Reindeer respectively. ~Second night we opted for the four...
