We have a short stay here in Oslo before going home and are staying in Grønland. We kind of stumbled upon this Italian Turkish restaurant and it was so good that we came back again the next night.
The special of the day is the way to go, but I'm convinced that everything there is just as good. Everything is around 150-200, with the special at 139. After being in Norway for 2 weeks, we think it's pretty reasonable.
Onto the food - The first night I had a thin crusted veggie pizza, which was fresh, full of veggies, and delicious. The special of that day was lamb stew with potatoes, and it came with a side of spiced rice. I had a taste of the special and really wish I had extra room in my stomach to accommodate another entree. The second night's special was lasagna, which I did get. The noodles tasted handmade, as it was tender and flavorful. There were thin layers of bechamel and mild red sauce, and neither overwhelmed the other. It was comforting and made me feel at home away from home.
Our meals came with a side of green salad, Turkish bread (yum!), ezme and tzatziki. The bread + tzatziki combo is amazing.
The service was fine. The servers will come bring menu to you, take your order, bring water, bring salad/bread, and finally your food. It was a little hard to get their attention during the meal.
I highly recommend this place, and my friends and I agree that we will miss this place when...
Read moreFirst day, first lunch in Norway during this business trip. My colleagues found this place near by our hotel. Walk in the streets, and see first snowing in my life. I think it will be difficult to forget.
Pick up one dish from manu, it's really delicious. I'm happy for my choice. When I just got the dish, my finger was burned by the iron sticks & quickly removed. The waiter found and told me, forgot to remind it's hot. That's a little bit late, right? ^_^
Snowing is getting bigger outside. We got a nice lunch inside, and great ice-breaking when we meet first time with USA colleagues.
I think you may use credit card...
Read moreGreat food - but very loud on a Saturday evening. And then we were rushed out by the waiter, who explained he had two more reservations coming. Pardon me, but we had our reservation, yes? Any thought of dessert or one for the road was simply erased. This is the first time in 10 years in Oslo that we've had such an unpleasant and totally unexpected conclusion to a restaurant experience. Come back for lunch or weekday dinners when less crowded - but avoid on busy weekends nights if you want a relatively quiet and relaxed...
