Hjemmebane Tromsø — Restaurant in Tromsø

This is close to being a good restaurant. It tries too much to be a bar. As such, I wouldn't choose it as a bar. I only saw two people there for the bar. There was a woman greeting men and asking for drinks. An older man waited a while, got tired of waiting to order, and left. Most people were there for the food. You have to order at the bar. There is one man there. He takes orders, goes upstairs to get the food, delivers it to the tables, and cleans up when people leave. So, it is slow service and messes up regularly. We ordered fish and chips and a reindeer burger. The fish and chips arrived quickly, but I suspected the worker made a mistake giving it to us. My wife and I shared her meal, finished, and waited. When I decided it had been far too long a wait for the reindeer burger and went to complain, he came from the kitchen with fish and chips and a reindeer burger. He was upset with us for already having finished an order of fish and chips. The fish was crispy. The chips (fries) were basic frozen and fried fries. The burger was gamey, as expected, but it was OK. It was a bit tougher than a bison burger. Overall, my opinion is that the food is good and that is what the customers were there for. We visited Hjemmebane bar yesterday to watch Manchester United vs Liverpool Premiership game and the bar was full we went upstairs and all the tables was reserved, we went to the bar and ordered our drinks and asked the bar man why all the tables upstairs was reserved and if we could sit upstairs on one of them tables and his reply was he doesn't know why there reserved and didn't answer if we could sit at one of them which we found strange that he works there and doesn't know ? The same bar man's card machine changed us double on 2 rounds which on one I got the next round free but on the second we didn't say anything as we had a restaurant reservation and had to leave as soon as the game was over. The beer was nice, the atmosphere was good and we got chatting to 3 local men who made the experience better, we didn't order food but seen a few people eating at tables and the food looked good. In the first place, this is not restaurant as it suggests in Google Maps, it’s just beer place with sports and very few bad food options.

We ordered House burger and Taco Nachos. Burger was pretty ok, just little bit too dry, BUT… Taco Nachos was just the most horrible choise, what you can purchase in this place. Nacho plate was super dry, melted cheese was dry, hard and way too greasy. The flavors were bad. There was just few chicken nuggets on the top, few cherry tomatos and just nachos, melted (dry and hard) cheese and jalopenos everywhere… Just ridiculous dish for 199NOK. You can walk to the nearest grocery shop and buy nachos for 20NOK.

Overall there was strange atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was slow. Toilets were out of order. So you can drink a lot but can’t use toilets? Let me know what is an idea in that?

My wife felt sick after Taco Nachos dish. We mentioned about that to the waiter, she just roll her eyes. Newer gonna try this place again, first and last time...
