12:25 p.m ( August 9 2024) They just opened.
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Shahi Dastarkhwan, located conveniently next to the iconic Badshahi Mosque. The location itself sets a picturesque backdrop for a meal, with views of the mosque adding a cultural charm to the dining experience.
We started our meal with the traditional Pakistani appetizer platter, which included an assortment of kebabs, samosas, and seekh kebabs. Each item was prepared with great attention to detail; the kebabs were juicy and full of flavor, while the samosas were crispy and well-spiced. The mint chutney and tamarind sauce that accompanied the platter were the perfect complements.
For the main course, we chose the biryani and the nihari. The biryani was aromatic, with perfectly cooked rice and tender chunks of chicken that had absorbed the rich spices. The nihari was a highlight—its slow-cooked beef was incredibly tender, and the gravy was both flavorful and hearty. It was served with fresh naan, which was soft and slightly crispy, ideal for soaking up the delicious sauces.
The service at Shahi Dastarkhwan was commendable. The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure we were well looked after without being intrusive. They also provided insightful recommendations and ensured our meal was served promptly.
To end our meal, we indulged in traditional Pakistani desserts. The gulab jamun was soft and syrupy, and the kulfi was creamy with a hint of cardamom. Both desserts were a delightful way to finish a satisfying meal.
Overall, dining at Shahi Dastarkhwan was a wonderful experience. The combination of authentic Pakistani flavors, excellent service, and the beautiful setting next to the Badshahi Mosque made for a memorable outing. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a true taste of local cuisine in a culturally rich...
Read moreI wish I could give them less than one star rating. I booked them for lunch after tasting everything prior to my main event. The food was good when we tasted everything before the final lunch day. We went with chicken special makhni handi and chicken reshmi kebab. But on the final day, it was PATHETIC! I regretted my decision of booking them. There was no cream, butter, desi ghee/oil in the "makhni" karahi. The chicken used to make this salan was full of bones and rarely boneless meat pieces were used in it. Secondly, the size of reshmi kabab was super small and thin as compared to the day we tasted it. Its taste was average too. The chutni that was supposed to be served with kebabs wasnt served at all. The staff wasn't vigilant too. They took a long time to serve everything that we ordered on spot even after telling them again and again to be prepared of our lunch. Please dont book with them. They are LIARS and would give you fake promises when you go...
Read moreIt was the worst decision of my life to visit this resturant .
Pathetic experience
The food was beyond worst and the ambiance was extremely bad . A lizard fell on my brother from top.
They took a lot of time to serve food which was not fresh at all and was not hygienic at all because there was a piece of wire in our biryani. When we told the waiter about the wire in biryani, he took the wire piece from us and went away and threw it somewhere and then came to us and started telling alie by calling that piece of wire ' a piece of ginger' Service was also pathetic ..... The waiter told us that the resturant is not registered so they do not accept card and do not charge sales tax .... but at the time of paying bill they charged us sales tax
They are just looting people .....thugs and mafias.
