Cute little fusion restaurant in Arequipa that balances Japanese techniques with local ingredients. The trout is notably fresh, and they've created a welcoming atmosphere with nice decor. Friendly staff and relatively quick service add to the positive experience.
Ordered: Fresh trout hosomaki (6 pcs) Trout nigiri (2 pcs) Custom maki with rice, avocado, cucumber and trout (10 pcs) Pork gyozas Kari kari dessert (fried wonton with rice, chocolate, mango and passion fruit sauce)
Total came to ~22€ (reasonable for the quantity)
Pros: Fresh trout quality Pleasant atmosphere Friendly service Good value for money Interesting if weird fusion desserts
Could improve: Wasabi lacks punch 3/5 tables are impractically low (even with provided eating trays) Unnecessarily long 18-page digital menu Gyozas were overly crispy/hard on the outside, unlike traditional soft-crisp texture
Worth a return visit if you're in the area and craving Japanese fusion. Just choose your table wisely and maybe skip the...
Read moreMy partner and I had a really disappointing meal here. He had the causa rolls, which were unfortunately fairly bland, and I had the ramen. It was probably the worst ramen I have ever had as various aspects of it fell short of what you would expect. I understand that the addition of celery to the broth was because it is Peruvian-Japanese fusion but it was nonetheless a shame as you could barely taste anything else and, honestly, who orders ramen for the taste of stewed celery? I’ve given 2/5 because, while the food was terrible, the service was very nice and the pisco sours we...
Read moreWe were craving for sushis and we had this place starred for we gave it a go… and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant itself is very cozy; only a few tables plus a few seats on the sofa, which gave it a cozy atmosphere. The welcome that we received was extremely friendly, and our waitress had been brilliant, helpful and very very patient. The food is fantastic and well priced, great quality, so are the drinks (very tasty cocktails). All in all a very pleasant experience, and all thanks to Camelia, our waitress, who has been the best. She was alone serving the customers, and the restaurant was busy. She was doing an amazing job, didn’t feel rush at all, and everything was under her control. Thanks to the Team for a delicious lunch, and to Camelia for her...
