El Monarca PizzAmore (homemade wood fired pizza/ pizza artesanal a leña) — Restaurant in Distrito de Cusco

I've been in Peru for 12 days and this is the worst meal to date. That's not saying it's awful. The food is mediocre at best. It's nothing to scream home about. I came here based on the reviews which were very good and left wishing I'd gone to McDonald's.

I was welcomed very nicely and greeted warmly despite my poor Spanish, however after my food was ordered I was forgotten about. I ordered a large pizza wanting to take some away for breakfast. After 30 minutes of waiting for even a check back I gave up and took my food downstairs to request a box and to pay the bill. I'd like to argue they were too busy and short staffed or something along those lines but I was the only person in there. Maybe there is a reason for that?

Also what's with the pre-made bases? How hard is it to make...

It's hard to imagine we ate at the same place as per all these reviews. We were the only ones in the restaurant at 7pm last night ordered two pizzas only got one which we were grateful for. as the other was forgotten. The Margherita pizza was topped with so much cheese we had to pull most of it off to even taste anything else. We are still trying to figure out what the yellow cheese was on it. This pizza was not good, base was crispy but flat in flavour. The service was fine and we were treated well but I am not sure if this is the same place people rave about. As a chef and Italian and pizza lover this is on par with Pizza Hut or Dominoes I guess. I wish we could have better comments but we didn't eat most of it. Take...

Ifti & I are from UK 🇬🇧and are on our 6-weeks tour of South America. After visiting various cities in Peru we are now in Cusco fancied a pizza so went to this little family run wood burning pizza restaurant. Were greeted by Vector a nice chap as we had a good chat about the brief history of Inca and South America. We had a large half an half pizza, half beef and half vegetarian. Beef half was OK but my vegetarian one had some chicken in it. It was OK for me but a strictly vegetarian person wouldn't have been happy at all.
