TLDR: If you’re sensitive to noise, don’t stay here on a Saturday.
The facilities are fairly good. The double bed in a private room was comfortable. There was a TV with access to YouTube and Netflix. The shower water smelled of sulfur, but that may just be the case for Cusco in general.
The Wi-Fi was fine but pretty slow. I had to switch to using a hot spot a couple of times. Fine for a traveler but not somewhere you want to work from.
The walls are very thin, meaning you will hear everyone else if they are speaking in a moderately loud tone. You can also hear doors slamming on your floor.
The reason this is getting three stars instead of four is because there is a bar on the second floor and that bar plays very loud music at night. In a private room it is easy enough to ignore, however the first night I arrived there (Saturday) they had a live band playing VERY loud music until 3 AM, which made it very hard for me to sleep. When I texted the Magar Hostal about it, they told me a live band comes in every...
Read moreI’ve had a lovely experience so far staying at Magar Hotel. The staff have been incredibly professional, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. A special thank you to Juan, who went above and beyond; even before I arrived; coordinating everything smoothly over WhatsApp. Once I got here, he continued to be supportive and gave me great local recommendations that made my stay even more enjoyable.
The hotel itself is clean, quiet, and well-located, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast is generous and delicious, a great start to the day!
There is Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, which is very convenient, though it could be stronger in the rooms for those who need to work or stream.
If I could suggest one improvement, it would be the addition of a small shared kitchen for guests staying longer; it would be great to prepare a simple meal from time to time.
Thank you again to everyone at Magar Hotel for making me feel at...
Read moreThey are clearly a party hostel and they don't advertise it as so, upon getting there they barely show you around only to your bed, they have no kitchen to cook in or a fridge to store some food so its really not a backpacking hostel it should have a kitchen so you can cook food. They blast terribly loud music all day and night so you can never get a good sleep before getting up early for your excursions. You won't get to sleep before 12 am every night as the music shakes through the dorms and keeps you awake. Wouldn't recommend staying here unless you are in cusco just to drink and party and get zero sleep. Also the doors to the dorm and the washroom creek very loud which is an easy fix but they couldn't be bothered so as there are 8 other people in your dorm getting up multiple times a night you...
