Really didn't enjoy my time here, especially for the price advertised and charged. The hotel advertises $99 a night for a small room with little amenities and no sound isolation, which was shocking because we didn't even have windows in the room. You can hear every visitor getting up for tours from 5am to 8am.
Some visitors are also extremely inconsiderate and yell at each other from the second floor to coordinate leaving at 5 in the morning (staff does nothing to ask them to be quiet, I had to get up to ask and ask them to turn off their phone ringer).
The only redeeming thing about this hotel was that they have good water pressure, but the second night, the cold water in my shower broke and I had to constantly adjust it from getting too hot or cold, the knob for the water had popped out and froze me mid shower, and often trying to fix it would cause all the cold to stop and I'd get scalded by the hot.
The room was very small and the hotel doesn't provide potable water, nor a kettle to boil your own. Imagine waking up with a sore throat from dry Andean mountain air and having to go a few blocks to find someone selling bottled water in the middle of the night.
Bed (we got one queen for two people) was fine, it was a comfortable stay, but sharing the multilayer blankets under a single sheet was tough as the sheets were exactly big enough for the bed tuck. The additional layers were a scratchy wool so if the sheet slips or gets adjusted while sleeping, you get to wake up and adjust yourself to spread out the bottom sheet to get comfortable again.
All in all, not a great sleep experience.
Wifi is pretty good, hotel has multiple spots, but you need to reconnect on occasion.
The hotel provides packed food boxes for early tour goers, and a small buffet breakfast. I was unimpressed with most items and the dairy is left out all morning in non chilled glass jugs. Food is okay, but I ended up opting to go out to eat.
Hotel also doesn't accept card payments. So make sure you bring enough cash. They also used an arbitrary exchange rate if your carry Peruvian soles that didn't reflect the rate of the day, so we paid 30+ Peruvian soles (9ish USD) after having to take cash out from an ATM that also charged a weird rate and ATM fees.
We tried to cancel part of the stay because we didn't want to deal with cash, but policy is strict (not to mention the lackluster experience for the price). Given the way the hotel operates, it was disappointing to have a high cost, no frills, no exceptions experience. For the price/location posted, there are plenty of hostels and airbnbs with private rooms and suites in Cusco that provide a better experience at a lesser cost.
Sorry Hotel Boutique....
Read moreWe arrived to a spacious room with a high ceiling. We ordered the in-room massage to be told it wasn’t available until the following day. Which was fine.||Then the disaster started to happen|-the phone didn’t work|-sink and toilet stopped working|-the shower's hot water was not even lukewarm|-when the massage did happen they said it was best to just do it on our bed instead of their tables since they didn’t bring it. It was the most uncomfortable since they had us vertically on the bed with our necks and feet hanging off. For $45 USD each this was a complete rip-off|-the housecleaner came into our room without knocking. Just opened the door and realized we were there. It was so odd!||Then we were told the wing we stayed at was having issues and we were moved to another room after the day. That room was tiny.|-the bathroom door needs fixing and you had to yank it or push it for it to close|-the toilet holder was broken off|-the towel hanger was broken|Then to top this off all of the staff seemed annoyed at everything when we notified them. At check out, I was informed that card transactions were 5% on top of everything. This seems new and something implemented the last few days since the protests started. Do not stay here if you expect comfort or service. Come if...
