Ambience : Relaxing atmosphere with soft jazz music. Open concept sharing U hotel lobby.
Spanish latte : 9/10. It has that wow effect on the first sip. Taste like hazelnut coffee with 50% less sugar. Waitress told me ahe puts in a bit of condensed milk and thats it. Coffee is great.
Wok Hei Hokkien mee : 6.5/10. It does not have the wok hei a.k.a. slightly burnt black noodle by wok effect though it came in a mini wok. Noodle look flat kolomee rather than hokkien yellow egg noodle. Closer to fried kolomee in my opinion. Taste of mince pork and seasoning goes well. I dont know about the peanut thing in it. Feels like Malaysian nasi lemak in a noodle cos it came with sambal. I gave slightly higher score because the mince pork, shallot and noodle actually taste quite alright but not the hokkien mee we know in Malaysia, Singapore or Brunei.
Chicken karaage : 6.5/10. Was looking for the menu fried chicken but they only have karaage or wings on their menu. Lack crispiness and fresher oil. Chicken with tartar sauce. Ok - lah. I tried chicken with sambal plus peanut and suddenly feels like nasi lemak without the nasi. All fun and good.
Back to enjoy a good cup of coffee here. Ordered another cup of latte. Just chill with the music here.
A kind lady by the name of Patricia offered me with a free 10min back massage. Service are just exceptional. Will definitely take more breaks here.
Next morning plan woke up thinking of the spanish latte i had last night. Was planning a buffet at Y2 Res but changed my mind.
Ordered spanish latte less sweet this morning. Figured out Asian may not be their strength, ordered french toast bacon and egg.
Spanish latte less sweet : 10/10. Nice deco as pic.
French toast with bacon and egg : 9/10. Fluffy french toast pan fried to perfection. Egg omelette with cheese just about right. Bacon is just right with the exception of the oil.
Overall, this place on...
Read moreWhat drew me to this cafe was their bold statement,'Best coffee in Poblacion'. Challenge accepted.
Upon entering this air-conditioned cafe, I was immediately struck by a very clean, well laid out and presented cafe, with a very pleasant ambience.
The staff present were very attentive and professional.
After being seated , I was immediately served a glass of water. Why is it that a lot of other businesses don't get this simple concept, especially since the Philippines is a hot country! Here is a tip for other business owners reading reviews to get it right, serve your customers a glass of water and tip number 2, get the WiFi on, so you will increase your numbers and allow them to leave a review there and then, whilst it is fresh in their mind.
Ok, I digress. Now everyone's taste is different, and I make the following statement on my own taste, along with having consumed coffee in various parts of this wonderful world we live in. Yes, I consider myself to be a coffee snob. I gave the Capaccino a run for its money, and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second one. I needed some caffeine flowing through the veins on this particular day.
Can I subscribe to the theory that it is the best coffee in Poblacion? Well, who knows. One thing for sure is that I have no need to try the rest, as this cafe satisfies my caffeine fix.
I also tried the full English breakfast. It's a little too small, in my opinion, and you really don't get bang for your buck! Toast came out, and no butter. Asked for butter, and it was provided. The issue was that it was frozen and not able to be spread. So, no, I will not be coming back for breakfast based on the standard provided.
Inside the cafe is another bold statement, 'Don't miss Poblacions Best Selling Tiramisui'. My next visit to get coffee will be to test...
Read more[Did not bother to take photos since I was so utterly DISAPPOINTED] This cafe is one of my go+to list and I found the reviews, pictures and menu enticing. So I excitedly went there to have an early dinner with a list of must-order foods according to the reviews.
But my excitement and high expectations for the food flunked down when I was served a cold hardened Kouign Amann. 😥 I have braces and I had a hard time eating it to the point that I need them to reheat it again. It's not obviously freshly baked and seems like it's a leftover pastry that was not sold the previous day. Well, I let it pass since maybe because the other stuff will taste better. But the Tiramisu? Frankly stating, there's absolutely nothing special about it--taste bland, no hint of coffee, just disappointing really.
What bewilders me is the selective treatment. This I realized when a couple sat behind me--the staff greeted them, then asked them later how is the food. I peeked as the staff and the couple chitchatting and yeah, I found a foreigner a Filipina together. Really? Well, actually I don't really care if I was greeted or not--it's the indifferent unfair feeling I had when I know we are not treated the same.
What saved this cafe for me is their Spanish Latte--it really taste good. This I can attest.
But the rest? Naah. It's a shame that the reviews did not meet my experience. Guess, they're not into solo customers. 😂
I rarely post reviews but when I do--either its the best or one...
