Food: Ok
Our meal began with the Crispy Cassava Chips with Onion Dip and the Summer Salad with Strawberry Dressing. The Summer Salad with Strawberry Dressing delivered the anticipated fresh flavors, and the inclusion of walnuts and prosciutto ham truly elevated it. However, the Cassava Chips were a surprise. As first-timers, we were expecting a potato chip-like crispness, but instead, they had fried cassava batter texture. The onion dip, unfortunately, was unremarkable; it tasted flat and it didn't quite appeal to my palate.
Moving on to the Chorizo and Olives Pasta, we found it to be rather dry. The inherent juiciness I was hoping for from the chorizo was lacking. A touch more salt and a generous sprinkle of cheese would likely enhance its flavor profile considerably.
The Fili Beef and Tomato, on the other hand, was enjoyable. The savory taste of the beef harmonized well with the bread. Adding some cheese could make it even better, and it did remind me somewhat of a beef wrap in its overall feel.
Overall, none of the dishes from this particular visit truly stood out as exceptional. The price of the food is on the higher side, and the taste and the service do not deliver the expected value.
Service & Atmosphere: Disliked The service we experienced was adequate but felt rushed. Also, the practice of taping order slips to the table created an unnecessary sense of clutter. Additionally, despite utilizing the provided call button multiple times for a serving fork, no staff attended to our table. Ironically, when we attempted to gain attention verbally, we were directed back to the unresponsive button. The service experience clearly needs...
Read moreI’ve eaten at this Mary Grace branch a few times, and it’s been very consistent. The service is always great, and the food tastes good. For reference, I’ve tried a few different pastas and the beef tapa. I’ve do wish they served a bit more meat, though, but it tastes great. No complaints with the entrees I’ve tried!
Only reason why I’m giving it 4 stars is that there are some items that I wasn’t crazy about—the grilled ensaymada and the mango shake (not pictured; it’s from a different visit to the same location). I wish the ensaymada was grilled a little longer, and I wasn’t blown away by the overall taste. I know ensaymada is what Mary Grace is known for, but I found it to be a little lackluster. Since it was grilled, I was expecting a pastry that was a bit crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Instead, it was just slightly warm and dry.
As far as beverages go, it’s been a mixed bag for me. On my first visit I had the mango shake. The mango was unripe, so it was a little tart. I’m sure it tastes good normally, but it was unfortunate that the mango used in my shake was pretty tart. The next one was the peach iced tea - I loved this one! My only criticism is that it could stand to be a tiny bit less sweet, but I was surprised at how you could actually taste the peaches. There were even little peach bits at the bottom which I liked.
All in all, I’ve been happy every time I’ve visited Mary Grace. I just can’t give it 5 stars because that indicates a perfect experience, and you can see from my review that there are some non-entree items that didn’t impress me. I still really like this...
Read moreI came here to eat because this is one of my family's favorite places to eat. The food is amazingly delicious here(that is the only reason I give the 2 stars). This is the first time I came and dine in a Mary Grace cafe to be treated and feel like an insignificant customer. my daughter just finished her 2nd vaccine so we decided to eat and of course I chose Mary Grace. My hair was in a bun and I actually looked like I was going to the palengke or something wearing only jeans and t-shirt. I had to come to their counter because no one would come to assist us as if we're invisible. We ordered 2 pastas, casava chips, lemon squares, raspberry ice tea and 2 coffee. We obviously ordered a lot for 2. Still I felt we were being judged by the way we dressed (remember the Pretty Woman scene of discrimination). The table next to us was a woman rich looking attire they handled her with care alright. They gave us glasses but didn't offer water ( the other table they gave a glass and immediately offered water and left it there) it took time before they gave us utensils for our lemon square, they didn't even offer us a paper envelope for our masks but gave the the next table as soon as they gave her the water ( here ma'am, you can put your mask here) sabi pa with care. Oh jeez! This is infuriating they obviously judge on how a person looks. This is the first and last time I'm going to this place. Sayang. Such a waste. Mary Grace for me has a very nice reputation but now I'm just...
