Went here today for Chinese New Year. It wasn't really my first choice but the other Chinese restos that were located in higher floors of the mall didn't have any customers (probably because of the pandemic) and I figured I didn't want to eat in a sad place for this special day.
Paradise Dynasty had some customers but only half of the restaurant was full. The wait staff seemed understaffed as it took some time whenever we had to call a waiter.
When we arrived at this restaurant, our cups and plates were just stacked up and not arranged properly on the table. When the waiter gave us our pot of tea, I still had to figure out which was the cup for the tea. Later on it turned out the cup I used for the tea was the rice bowl (unusually small actually for a rice bowl), and the other cup, which had a small ladle in it when it was stacked on the table, was the cup for the tea. Anyway, I expected that this fancy restaurant would have the plates, cups and utensils properly arranged on a table. I've seen better table arrangements in less expensive restaurants.
The food took so long to arrive, and they didn't all arrive at the same time. The garlic spare ribs, which was the most expensive thing we ordered, came early with the soup. By the time the fried rice came the spare ribs were already cold and no longer delicious. The last thing that came were the brocolli. I couldn't understand why a vegetable dish would be the last thing to arrive. We were already almost done eating when the brocolli dish arrived.
We noticed that many waiters were preoccuppied with the delivery orders thats why it was hard to call on a waiter. I think this was unfair to us dine in customers as we were paying service charge to the restaurant and yet and we seem to have been the least priority for the waiters.
The food was ok but not really beyond what I could get in other Chinese restaurants. It is also quite expensive compared to other Chinese restos offering equal, or even better, quality of food.
This place is overrated, in my...
Read moreAsked the waiter and waitress regarding the portion per food, as we are around 30pax. However, upon ordering, as our order was recalled, they told as that the food ordered by us would be inadequate for the group, thus told us to add more of these and that (telling us that 1 order of food is good for 1-2pax only, so we asked for an estimation as the both feedback of the waitress and waiter are different from one another, also as for the waitress, she keeps on insisting that it is better to order everything from the start as it is not preferred to have additional orders as it would take themlong to accomodate us due to having many customers, whereas based form the waiter, he told us that to order a bit less as it would be easier to add food if bot enough), the waiter and waitress kept telling different estimations. However as the food was being delivered to our table, the food was too much and was like around for 50pax thus more food has been left untouched. Around 9 paperbags has been packed for takeouts. For birthdays/senior/pwd discounts, the waitress told us that there are no discounts for birthday celeberants, where as based from the waiter, there is a discount for celebrants, thus requires us to submit an ID for verification.
We hope that the employees would have same reasoning skills toward their customers, for them not to be confused (regarding the serving portions of each food and the benefits or discounts the customers could avail)
The employees are nice and the food is good, however, it is not acceptable to have so much of leftovers (considering the price...
Read moreService: The service was quite slow and uncoordinated. From the time I placed my order to when it was entered into the POS system, it took around 15 to 20 minutes. It wasn’t until I specifically requested that my drink be served first that they finally placed the order in the kitchen.
Despite the restaurant being nearly empty and having many waiters and managers on duty, it was difficult to get their attention. They seemed to avoid eye contact, making it frustrating to place additional orders.
Rating: 3/5 (being generous).
Atmosphere: The ambiance was excellent. The restaurant was clean and provided a relaxing environment, which is ideal for a Chinese dining experience.
Rating: 5/5.
Food: Original Xiao Long Bao Excellent flavor and a must-try dish. Crispy Szechuan Chicken Probably my favorite dish here. It’s incredibly spicy and crispy, packed with aroma and spices. However, it’s not for those who can’t handle real spice. Kung Pao Chicken A good dish, though it could benefit from the addition of green peppers or more vegetables. Pork Dumpling in Chili Oil Delicious pork filling with just the right amount of chili. Highly recommended. Chilled Baby Spinach Fresh and well-prepared. Yang Zhou Fried Rice A decent combination of pork and shrimp. While it’s not the best I’ve ever had, it doesn’t disappoint. Stir-Fried Broccoli Fresh and perfectly cooked broccoli.
Overall: This restaurant is a great dining option at The Podium.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5. Improving the service would make it a...
