My visit to Max's Restaurant at SM City San Lazaro left much to be desired, earning a mere 1 out of 5 stars from me. The disappointment began with the lackluster service - the staff seemed disinterested and inattentive throughout my dining experience. Despite the restaurant's reputation, the food fell short of expectations. The dishes appeared hastily prepared and lacked the promised flavors that Max's is known for. The famous fried chicken, which I had eagerly anticipated, arrived overcooked and dry. Even the classic "sizzling tofu" tasted bland and lacked the usual sizzle.
Moreover, the ambiance left a lot to be desired. The dining area felt cramped and poorly lit, contributing to an overall unsatisfying dining atmosphere. To make matters worse, the restroom was unkempt and lacked basic hygiene supplies. All in all, my experience at Max's Restaurant in SM City San Lazaro was far from enjoyable. The subpar service, disappointing food quality, and lackluster ambiance combined to create a regrettable dining outing that I would not be...
Read moreWe ordered chicken, Shanghai fried rice, sizzling gambas and chopsuey for a party of 4. We were 8th in line but only waited for less than 20mins. When we got to our place, there were only 2 place mats and utensils. Service was really really really slow. Had to ff up my service water 2x. Asked for table napkin for 4, and was only given 3 pieces. Our rice was served without serving spoon. Granting that it is Christmas day, so the service is quite forgivable. But what is unforgivable is the food that they served. The chopsuey which is worth Php249 has very few vegetables in it. The gambas worth Php339 was consumed by only 3 people. The rice worth Php195 has chunks of plain rice. The chicken is also very small. What we paid for is not worth what we got. Everyone in our table felt shortchanged. Their food and their service was sacrificed because of the...
Read moreMax's was one of our childhood favorite place to eat out. We were disappointed when we ordered solo plates. Some of us ordered a solo plate with 1 piece of chicken and another ordered a solo plate with 2 pieces of chicken. However the portion size of the one with the 2 pieces of chicken is just similar with the one with the 1 piece chicken. Also ordered an add on of fresh lumpiang ubod to the solo plates for around 50 php. The portion size of the lumpia was very small, I could literally finish it in one bite. Though you could probably order a full sized one for around 150 php. These changes might be because of the increasing prices of various things in the Philippines but still is sad...
