If you are from the South like me and Festival Mall in Filinvest Alabang is your favorite haunt in the metro, Fukuya is this Japanese resto that is very much familiar to your eyes. Fukuya is probably the first Japanese resto I've been to, prior to discovering Hakata - Tonichi & Ramen Nagi. The interiors clearly reflects the specialty of this place with all the bamboo & paper lanterns, exuding this Oriental vibe. I ordered Okonomiyaki Butatama, Futomaki (4 pcs) & Omaraisu and Pork Tonkatsu on the 2 occasions I've been in the resto. The Okonomiyaki is a vegetable based pancake with deep umami flavor from the bonito flakes, mine is moist, the crunch coming from the bean sprouts or togue. I enjoyed it very much. The Futomaki is average. Omaraisu is a Japanese omelette stuffed with sticky rice. Hey, I love eggs and this dish appeals to me. The Pork Katsudon has this hint of sweet mirin, the meat is very soft and complements the rice, really good. Overall, Fukuya serves respectable Japanese food at mid range prices. Hakata - Tonichi is still number 1 in my Japanese food loving heart. But Fukuya is enough to satisfy...

Their yakisoba tastes really nostalgic, my family used to frequent this restaurant every time we went to this mall. It’s really flavorful, same with other dishes. Highly recommend their yakisoba!
The Agedashi Tofu has a really nice sauce, but the flavoring of their coating could be improved. To be fair, I’m comparing theirs to Yabu’s.
The okonomiyaki was overloaded with sauces, might be a pro or con depending on the person.
Beef Gyudon and Katsudon are okay, as I’ve tasted better. The beef was a little too sweet for my taste, but I liked how the meat isn’t fatty and hard to eat.
As for the atmosphere, I really like how they’re not blasting noisy Japanese songs (unlike some restaurants). Music volume...
Read moreLocation-near food court and easy to locate Place-clean and spacious for several customers. Ambience is good too. Staff-friendly and attentive Service-its a pay as you order japanese restau Food-not very authentic. Its like a class a japanese restau. The tea i ordered is just lipton. The california maki is kind of bland and its like they used white rice instead because it breaks easily when you scoop it from the plate using your chopsticks. The maki salad is so-so. They use cabbage instead of lettuce. The oyakodon and gyoza tastes well enough and im happy with it. Price-is average to affordable but wont get the quality you want with some of the food...
